Hard to explain... Living in north-central NJ, I fly Continental more than anyone else, and end up on NW codeshares frequently. I have always been treated fairly by both airlines-- the experience is professional and friendly.

CO through CLE probably has the easiest airport connection.

Since I am from Cleveland originally, I would suggest a flight on CoEx through my old home airport. I recently had a non-stop flight from FLL-CLE cancelled on CO, so I was routed on NW through DTW.
I had always been a Delta guy with my Skymiles, etc. - but I was impressed with the service on NWA. I was also impressed with UAL on a previous flight, although I no longer get SkyMiles, so they are out. CO and NW may offer much more superior service than the airline I've staunchly supported for 10+ years....so I suggest NW, CO and then DL or UA in that order depending on $$$.
I can also say I strongly vote against US - and cannot wait to see them go out of business!
