I'm sure we all go through this at one point in time or another. I'll go first. I have missed a plane only once, but when I did, it was annoying. We were supposed to catch an AA flight TPA-STL. We were late by an hour due to traffic on I-75. So we stayed in a hotel overnight and had to stand by when we found out the next day that all TPA-STL direct flights were full. So we waited ANOTHER day. Then we finally compromised and did TPA-DFW-STL. The length of time it took was 5 hours, the length of a BOS-LHR nonstop. TPA-STL nonstop is half that time. How many flights have u missed? Share your experience with the "class"

I have missed three flights. All were overseas flights. The first I missed was suppose to be my first 777 experience, ORD-LHR. I missed it. I got it worked out and was on STL-LGW instead, 763. The second flight I missed was also a 777 flight, ORD-LHR. I changed my plans, and ended up flying ORD-MAN, 763, and took a train into London. Bummers again. My last flight was a AF flight from CDG-LIS. We missed check in and got bummed to their afternoon flight. My dad was compensated well over $700 total for that.
Received 150 euro for each ticket, or 300 euro of vouchers on AF for each ticket. We took the cash. Also received a 100 euro voucher for the restaurant in CDG. Very enjoyable French cuisine!
Hope I don't miss anymore flights in the future do to my own stupidity.

Missed two flights up till now.
a FCO-LYS in 2002 on AF - arrived 5 minutes before take off, as a fool paying customer, I was put in the next flight : i.e. next morning at 6 am, and my company offered me another night at the hotel (and I could see some part of Rome by night).
MIA-SDQ, that same year on AA. Had done AA63 CDG-MIA just before, and the flight was two hours late. We merely saw our MIA-SDQ push back, and had to wait an additionnal 3 hours at MIA. Oh well, not that bad.

Missed a flight once. I was travelling on operations duty from Holland to Spain and took the train to Amsterdam Schiphol. Suddenly the train stopped in the middle of nowhere. Apparently there was a major problem further down on the track. We stood there for an hour or so until finally we returned to the previous station (and all other trains on that route, which is the busiest of Holland...). There was a big chaos at the station, everyone had to change trains for another routing, and then I had to take a bus from Amsterdam central station to Schiphol.
I normally always allow more than enough time when travelling, in this case also to do some spotting at AMS, but this time with all these problems I arrived at Schiphol 30 minutes after my flight had departed. I had to buy a new ticket and wait for another 4 hours or so for the next flight to BCN.

Missed quite a few, all part of the same spotting trip last year, was due to fly
PLH-BRS-DUB-LGW-EDI-DUB then DUB-SNN-DUB-MAN-BRS-PLH. Air Southwest were kind enough to cancel my first flight and only offer road transport leaving at the departure time and arriving some 2 hours later than scheduled. I would have missed all my connecting flights so I had to cancel the trip

Missed or no show?
I was away in the US over Xmas 03 and was scheduled to fly home from IAD-LHR on BA222 (as it was then) on 2nd Jan (this was the day that BA223 malarkee was on and was cancelled and delayed due to bomb scare). Unfortunately a family emergency meant I had to fly home on 27th Dec and I couldn't get my ticket changed so bought a new one way.
Alas because the BA222 departure on 2nd Jan was put back to 12am from 9.35pm for that day I got a call from British Airways to inform me of the change. I told the agent I was already in the UK and they were rather surprised!

Well I guess I have missed two flights. Two summers ago, my family and I were coming back from CDG-ORD-PDX and our flight to ORD was delayed for six hours, even though the plane was on the ground. The crew went illegal. We got to spend the night in Chicago and fly out the next day. My other flight I have missed was part of my BCN-LHR-SEA flight with two other friends last summer, after we had spent three weeks studying Spanish in Tarragona, Spain. We sat on the ground for two hours and even received our meal on the ground in BCN, because French radar was down. We got to LHR and had missed our flight back to the states, so we had to spend the night in a London Hotel, which was pretty fun for three 16 year olds. The next day we were on standby for the LHR-SEA flight, and luckily made it on.

Missed a flight? HA! Yeah...
When my mom and I were moving about...13 yrs ago, To Oregon, We were on our way the airport, when my mom turned around to get her bag, and it wasn't there. so we had to drive back home. The drive back to our house took too long, so we missed the flight.
The other time, I was going to Hawaii W/ My dad, we were going to leave from ANC because we got some Good tickets, and we got about halfway there from FAI, and realized we left the tickets sitting on the counter in the kitchen, Turned around drove back to FAI, and called The airline, only to have them tell us, they can't do anything for us. They only thing they could suggest was fly out on the next flight to anchorage, Which we did. That made up for the savings we got for flying out of ANC. :P, oh well.

Surprisingly, only three.
First was a morning flight to EWR to catch a connection to LGW, but I overslept--woke up at the time my flight was scheduled to depart. Luckily, I was on a FF ticket, and they were able to reschedule me on the following day's flight w/o penalties. That one ended up turning back to LAX after about two hours in the air due to an engine shutdown, and I ended up getting rescheduled for later in the afternoon via DEN instead.
Second was the morning of the shoe bomber over the Atlantic, and with the airport already overwhelmed with Christmas travelers, they started closing off flights an hour ahead of normal to allow for the heightened security, even if we were in line for a normally on-time check-in. Ended up having to fly PDX-SFO-LAX-PHX the next day, on one of the only seats available before Christmas, and my first flight on an RJ. (It wasn't pleasant, LOL)
The last time was for a 6:30AM flight I was there early enough for normally, but after the agent got done flirting with the passenger she was checking in in the first class line ahead of me, announced my "flight closed exactly one minute ago" due to new software they had that predicted whether or not a person and their bags could make it together through security on the same flight. I was so unamused I drank their entire stock of Crown Royal on my rescheduled connection.
Other than that, I've come *really* close a few times, but always made it.

It was October last year when I missed my first flight, and it wasn't even my fault!
I was meant to take a BA flight from LHR to Montreal as I was moving over here for a new job. Knowing how crappy British trains are I decided to take a one-way flight from Manchester on BMI, which was really cheap at 40 pounds.
So, my flight was scheduled to leave LHR at about 5:15pm. I arrived at Manchester at 8:00am to take the flight at about 10:30am, thus giving me plenty of time for delays and time at Heathrow to have a look around.
Of course, the BMI flight was late coming into MAN by an hour. No problem. Still a few hours to play with. I checked in, and decided to go for a swift drink in the bar. Later on, I returned, and I noticed the BMI plane was parked up at the gate with the cargo being loaded on. After checking the flight time, I had another drink, and then returned. The cargo door was still open! I later found out that they couldn't shut the bloody door, and therefore cancelled the flight!
After 2 hours waiting at the BMI desk (I'd never seen such a complete mess at the desk, as about 100 passengers were squabbling to get to the front of the queue whilst pushing, shoving, bitching and generally behaving like complete morons!) I was finally put on the 2:30pm flight to London.
Which was an hour late!
I arrived in LHR at 4:45pm. My flight to Montreal had also been delayed but it was too late for me! Luckily, after explaining the fiasco to the lovely lady at the BA desk, she booked me on the flight the next day without any charge.
So there I was, at LHR, with a 20 hour wait at the airport! I must say that I do not recommend spending that long in Heathrow overnight. I got to Montreal in the end though, and the flight was a real treat, great service, great PTV, my first time on a 777-great aeroplane!

Once when I was travelling with girls that were slow and didn't seem to care about the flight time, and we missed the WN flight from LAS-SLC.
Another time, I came close, thanksgiving weekend traffic in SEA was horrible, and it took me 2 1/2 hours to go from UW to SEA (plus I'd missed my shuttle and had to wait an additional 30 mins) luckily my plane was delayed 3 hours and I didn't miss it, also with WN, an airline that I love to hate.

I have missed one flight to date - no fault of mine.
I was flying from JFK-SJU-EIS shortly after TWA 800 crashed. As there was multiple theories regarding the crash at the time, every piecec of luggage was scrutinized. We boarded the AA A300 on time but by the time the luggage was placed on the aircraft, we took off about an hour behind schedule. Therefore, I missed the SJU-EIS leg on Eagle. They were able to rebook all 9 of us on a flight later in the afternoon.

Reember friends telling us how they lay on the beach in Cyprus watching the planes taking off from Paphos airport - saw one that looked identical to the one they flew out on and said "That'll be us on that plane tomorrow"
Needless to say they realised later that day that it was one day later than they thought it was and they very plane they watched was the one they should have been on. oops.....
