I know there are some people out there (including me) who try to fly on a wide variety of airliners, for example try to book a flight with different equipment on outbound / inbound.

I also know there are people trying to book on exotic carriers to get one last chance to fly on all those almost-extinct dinosaurs like L1011, 707 or the like.

Sadly, there is a bunch of planes that we all will never be able to experience anymore, not even for all the money in the world...

Let's all add to the list: (and no, I'm not talking about equipment from the 1920s... only 'modern' equipment)

Well I was referring to a type in general, and you will aggree that you can still fly with both 721 and 722 somewhere. Otherwise you are correct, but then you could mention every single type that was phased out by each airline, and that would be a huge bunch.

I am quite dissapointed that I will never be able to fly on the 737-100, the -100 and the -900 are the series which are still missing in my 737 "collection".

Getting the L1011 is hard as well, despite I lived next to DUS my entire life until January this year, I never flew on a LTU L1011 in my youth.

DC-8 and 707, never had the chance to fly on these great classic birds.

Concorde, must be great to fly supersonic but actually I was never a big fan of this aircraft, so no problem.

Patrick, you can still fly 731! There are operators left in South America and Africa, maybe Airevents could organize something?

L1011 might be possible to get a hold of in charter.

707 seems pretty much gone, so does DC8.

Damn I remember back when Concorde was in its final month I was seriously considering taking a ride. But hell, where would I take the money from. Now its all over, forever.

I would love to fly again on an EA 727, my first flight. I know, no chance. Or a 707, my first international flight. There was something really romantic about the 707 and DC-8 intercontinentals. Maybe I'm showing my age?

I was lucky and managed to fly the Dassult Mercure.

I really wish I could have flown in a Trident and a VC-10,oh,if only I were older it may have been possible.

Are you sure about that? I think I read somewhere that only two 737-100 are still flying, one for the Mexican Air Force and another for the NASA. Can anyone confirm that -100's are still in service at some airlines?

L1011 might be possible to get a hold of in charter.

I already looked around to get a L1011 flight but it is really hard, when Airevents would offer such a flight I would be the first one who is booking it! I tried to get the L1011 last year in Thailand on an Orient-Thai flight but unfortunately they are only flying charters, at least I got the 747-100.

Damn I remember back when Concorde was in its final month I was seriously considering taking a ride. But hell, where would I take the money from.

I was also considering a Concorde flight during the final days, I didn't want to do just a sightseeing flight but cross the Atlantic, unfortunately was it way too expensive.
