I got a couple of Star Alliance upgrades to use before the end of this month, and I have a business trip to make to Connecticut so I am going to combine the 2. As I want to try the BMI Business product and use these upgrades I am proposing to book myself in new economy next week to go to and from IAD (and then to BDL).
My question is, how likely would it be that I would get the upgrade bearing in mind I would only be on the upgrade waiting list? What are the loads like in Business on the route at this time of year?

Well a friend used these upgrade vouchers to try on MAN-IAD in bmi J a few weeks back and said that there were 4 seats of 24 occupied on the MAn-IAD leg and similar on the return. I'd say chances are very high. Loads in the back and semi-back are quite decent but premium traffic is sketchy
