When, I fly, I always wish that music would be played during take-off. I know a lot of people don't agree, but if music could/would be plate on the take-off run and during the climb out phase. What would be your favorite songs for this phase of the flight?

In my opinion take-off songs need to ROCK!! That's why my ten favorite songs would be (title + artist):
1. Born to be Wild - Steppenwolf
2. Don't stop me now - Queen
3. Learning to Fly - Tom Petty
4. Highway Star - Deep Purple
5. Born to Run - Bruce Sprigsteen
6. Walk of Life - Dire Straits
7. (I can get no) Satisfaction - Rolling Stones
8. Reunited - Greg Kihn Band
9. Two Tickets to Paradise - Eddie Money
10. Final Count Down - Europe

Now, it's your turn. I'm really looking forward to your favorite songs.

Regards
N593HA

I thought passengers couldnt use electronics such as cd/mp3 players during take off and landings? I never turn mine on, until I'm told I can.

Well I put 'The Verve - Bittersweet Symphony' on one of my takeoff videos I made last year. Have a look here, it goes quite well.  Big grin

I remember years ago when I had an FM walkman with no tape, I was listening to it with the in-ear phones during taxi and just when the 727 spooled up for take off, the extended mix of "You Spin Me Round" by Dead or Alive started and the timing of this was so appropriate!! Of course when I got a cassette walkman, I would deliberately play this song for take off for many more flights.

Litterally, "Stairway to Heaven", by Led Zeppelin, for the optimistic ones (of which I am)...  Cool

Or "Highway to Hell", by AC/DC, for the slightly less optimistic ones... or for the hard-rocking ones (of which I am) !!!  Silly

How about that song by Savage Garden which keeps repeating the lyrics 'crash and burn' in the chorus...?

Amy, glad you share the same enthusiasm. I listen to that song everytime...just very inspiring and it sends chills up my body as I feel the aircraft take-off with the chorus in the background.

BTW, I thought I was the only idiot that listened to this kind of stuff during take-off, but what else can I expect from my family here at airliners.net, right?
hehe

Regards to all

Listening to the roar of the jets is enough entertainment for me, but, otherwise my choices would be:- Learn to Fly - Foo Fighters, (the video), I Believe I Can Fly - R Kelly/Seal or Steve Miller Band - Fly Like an Eagle.

Failing all the above anything by Wings, The Jets, The Birds,Jefferson Airplane etc.

I agree with that one!

I also love "lift us up where we belong" by Joe Cocker and Jennifer Warnes. I think it was LH's theme song for a while, and it was the most suitable theme song i could think of....

'Tunnel of Love' by Dire Straits, or Heavy Fuel (kinda ironic with all that fuel burning to get you off the ground).

Any Dire Straits for that matter. They arguably produced some of the best guitar music ever. And I went to school with Mark Knophlers children.  cheerful
