I love aircraft because the represent the freedom to travel beyond your normal everyday experience. It's very important for me to actually physically be in as many bits of the world as possible, and planes make that so much easier
Favourite aircraft all round - L1011-500, although Concorde is right up there.

I love them because it amazes me how SLOW they can actually travel and still remain in the air. Sometimes it really looks as though they're hanging there in the sky when they're on short finals. They just amazing - technological marvels - everything about them is something special.

I love the fact that I can get from Point A to Point B in a really fast amount of time of flying near 500 miles per hour, as opposed to driving or taking the train at 75 mph. When they don't crash either, it's a big plus.
And they impress the babes.
Eternal darkness we all should dread. It's hard to party when you're dead.

Yeah, for me it's the sound of the engines spooling up, particularly the A320 series/757/767, etc.
I live near MHT and every once in a while catch the sound of a UPS 767 that has just lifted off of 17..that loud whine/growl..

My dad designed turbines for GE for many years, and as a kid we would go to BOS back in the observation deck days. I loved the noise and the thick black smoke from the DC-8s! I'm still fascinated by every aspect of flight, but I do miss the tight power of the old 727, BAC1-11; at least the DC-9 is still around (oops, sorry). I guess what I like the most is the mechanics of flying. Although I am by no means an expert, I like to sit by the wings and see whether take-off lift is obtained by flaps, leading edge slats, or both, and how they are mixed.

What do I love most about airplanes????
That's simple. They are graceful. There is an amazing beauty to catch the sight of one of these big birds as it rotates and leaves the ground.
When I used to go spotting at BWI many years ago, I can remember the sight of the planes climbing up over the berm. You see, from where I was standing, you really couldn't see them when they were on the ground. As they were taking off, coming towards me, you really can't hear them. Then you see this beautiful aircraft, rising up over the berm as it climbs. Then the sound catches you. The roar of those powerful jet engines getting louder as the plane gets closer. Then it roars over your head and you feel the wind vortex as it passes and you hear the crackle of those huge engines.
Then you watch as it gracefully glides away to some far away place.
Then, there is quiet again, but only for a moment, because here comes another one! Yeah!
That's what I love most about airplanes
My glass is neither 1/2 empty nor 1/2 full, rather, the glass itself is twice as big as it should be.

I love being in a Cub flying whatever direction I feel like with the door open.
