Between the CR2 and the ERJ, the ERJ wins hands down in my book. The CR7 is better than the CR2, but I'd still chose the ERJ if I were flying solo, since seating in that plane is 1x2.

I agree, i've only flown CRJ200 and ERJ145's and 35's and 40's...but The ERJ's win hands down! The Seats are always much more comfortable. The plane itself is much sleaker. Also most importantly, the 1::2 seating is way better than 2::2 on the CRJ, especially if you are flying alone. For an flying enthusiast, to get both and aisle and a window..what a treat

eh, the poster is asking about the E-170, not the ERJs

I have to say the CRJ and that's not because I work on them. Call me crazy, but the 1x2 seating just bugs the crap out of me. Doesn't look right, almost doesn't feel natural. I personally don't care where I sit. I'm riding on an airplane and that's all I need
Always remember the responsibilies you hold with an A&P license

To me they are both the same. I actually find the E70 a step down compared to the E145 series while the CR7 is a step up to the CRJ.
The E70 has a better "mainline" appearance, but once seated all that is thrown out the window.
It's a big building with patients, but that's not important right now.

Well being that the CRJ is hands down the most uncomfortable aircraft in the sky, I'd have to give the prize to the EMB. Unless I'm flying cargo, the CRJ will always be my last choice among RJ's.
If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving is not for you.

Quoting ANCFlyer (reply 8): thrown out the window with the underseat footroom and the overhead storage and the ability to actually STAND UP when I'm walking to the lav
Well damn either you are 7 feet tall or haven't actually been on the CR7. I am 6 foot and have no trouble walking to either bathroom or have trouble placing my feet under the seat in front of me.
As for storage in overhead bins both aircraft suck.
I don't really like either aircraft, but if I had to choose I probably would pick the E70 or flip a coin.
But thanks for evaluating my OPINION.

Come on people, for those that really flies all the time, between the ERJ-170 and the CRJ-700, the CRJ is so unconfortable! It feels like you are in a can of sarndine, the ERJ-170 reminds me a bit like the A318, plus you really feel like you are in a whidebody... My tests were on America West Express -700/-900 and Horizon -700 ... Us Airways for the E170

Ok, perhaps I was harsh - - -
I prefer the E170.
No I don't "carry" a lot on board any CRJ - Gate Check is my Friend . . . but you must admit overhead, legroom, etc. exceed that of a CRJ45, 135, etc.
I had a CO flight CLT-IAH in a CRJ once . . . .2 hours plus, even the F/A commented on hte "pre-flight -Safety Lecture' this is one of the longest CRJ flights in the industry, and we don't know why, but we'll make it the best we can". That young lady definitely exceeded the standard for CRJ service. I wrote the appropriate letter to CO and friends on her excellent service.
I selected 2C. Aisle, bulhead, and it was an okay ride, for 2 hours 30 minutes plus. I mean, afterall, it WAS a CO flght and I'm partial to CO anyway.
That said, it was a CRJ - and that is a short haul - read that 1:30 or less A/C. The F/A was fantastic, the flight uneventful, the seat, cramped. No one next to me or it would have been worse.
I wish that had been aboard a E170 . . . with F seats. I hazard to say, Sir, I would NOT have noticed a difference between that and COs 735 on that route.

Sir, I gave mine as quickly and with as much educated validation as you gave yours . . . .

You obviously haven't flown enough aircraft.

With out a question....the Emb-170. I even prefer it to mainline planes.

Firstly, just to clarify some confusion in the earlier posts, the Embraer 170 has a 2-2 standard seating configuration, as does the Canadair. Further more the aircraft code for the Embraer 170 is E170. This is all proven on each manufacturers website.
To answer your question: The E170 takes the cake without a doubt! I find the airliner to be much more appealing then any CRJ and also find it more comfortable. I have flown both aircrafts countless times and would rather not take any, but hey it's flying.

I flew the CRJ-700 on Lufthansa and the EMB-170 on Alitalia. I like the CR7 because it is a very poweful aircraft but when it comes to passenger comfort I clearly prefer the E70.

I hate the CRJ -- a few years ago, I actually hurt my knee (and ended up in the hospital) after a CRJ flight. Now, I watch my schedule to avoid them, but sometimes have no choice. And I cannot imagine anything worse than being stuck next to a somewhat smelly, somewhat fat, (or somewhat over perfumed) person in a CRJ.
My biggest dislike of NWA is the use of CRJ's instead of the AVRO or the Saab, both of which are much more comfortable, and, at least in the ERJ, there's hope for a first class seat, i.e., the single row
