Hey guys...
My friend from school and I are wondering who has the best transcon service? AA, UA or US? We both are frequent flyers, he's Silver Preferred and I'm AAdvantage Gold... My vote goes to AA but his vote goes to UA or maybe US... What do you think and recommed?

I think it would depend on where your flying to and from for example if you were leaving from FLL going to LAX I would say your best bet is AA because they have non-stop service. Not sure if UA does out of FLL I know US doesn't you would have to change in either CLT or PHL maybe even ORD and continue to LAX with UA.

I've flown both AA and UA BOS-SFO a few of times. I'd say they are mostly equivalent. AA has recently stopped serving food on their transcons, but you apparently have the option to buy a sandwich. I don't know whether UA have followed te same path (I'm sure someone here can give us this information). In terms of leg room, they both have 31" pitch in economy (according to seatguru.com; I only looked at B757s). HOWEVER, if you can get on UA's Economy Plus Seats, they are much more confortable (as far as economy seats are concerned that is). Another tip is that, with your AAdvantage Gold status you should be able to reserve emergency exit row seats on AA, which are also better than the standard seats. Apart from that, you should look at timing. I'm planning a BOS-SFO trip in May and I'll probably do it on UA because, on the way back, it arrives in BOS at 8pm, whereas the AA equivalent flight gets in at 10pm, which is a bit too late for me.
Hope this helps,
Tony

Definately go with United! They still serve free food on their transcons, while American has recently switched to BOB, which I've heard aren't so good. And even if it is BOB for United, they have been amazing on the flights I've taken with them. Plus, if you are going from JFK, you'll be on PS with economy plus and laptop power in every seat. UA all the way!
