Just realised I can get really cheap flights with EZY from NCL to Stansted. I was fancying a day out and might hop on one of these flights in the next month or so.
What is Stansted like? good for viewing? whats in the surrounding area? will I be able to occupy myself for a whole day? My other options are to fly to Belfast or Bristol for the day. What does everyone recommend?

Hi,
I've been to STN more times than I care to imagine.
It's very good for watching the movements while airside - if you only have hang luggage you may stay there - but not that good landside. Your only real option is to leave the terminal, turn right and proceed to the bridge (very easy to find). From here, you get a partial view of the runway plus perhaps 10 stands. It's OK, but not that good. You might get bored within an hour.
There's not much to do near-by, but London is only 45 minutes away by train.
I've been to BRS probably 15+ times. There's no point going to the airport to watch the planes unless you have a car, for there are very few landside views and virtually the same while airside. If you do have a car, and I doubt you will, then there's a superb area a few minutes from the terminal. I won't go into details about that as I assume you won't have a car (ask me to tell you if you do).

Why don't you do a 'day of flying'? Can easily fit 3, perhaps 4, flights in, starting at NCL and finishing there. Should, if you are lucky and flexible, cost less than £30 all-in.

Well, how about, say:
NCL-BFS
BFS-EDI/GLA
EDI/GLA-STN
STN-NCL
Or
NCL-BFS
BFS-STN
STN-NCL
Or
NCL-STN
STN-GLA
GLA-BFS
BFS-NCL
Play around with dates and times. Try to go on a Tuesday-Thursday in a month or more time. Do plenty of research.
You could easily combine at least 2 airlines, for instance fly FR from NCL to DUB thence to STN, LTN or LGW, then U2 to BFS/EDI/GLA, or NCL-STN on U2, then FR to DUB... plenty of options.
So many options!

Great plans, but don't forget, miss one flight and you're screwed big time. They're not the most reliable time wise!
It might end up costing you a whole lot more.
If you flew into Stansted you could always get a taxi round the other side of the airport and get a view accross the runway from the perimeter fence. Nothing there like shops or cafe's and if it's raining you'd get soaked, and you just stand on a grass bank, but you do get pretty good views. From there you could even walk round the perimeter fence to the approach end (23) if they're coming in the right way, for some nice photo's. On the map link, it's the yellow B road between markers 93 & 94. Opposite the main terminal.
Have fun!
It is a risk, but I have done many three- or four-flights-in-a-day without incident. So long as you plan at least 2 hours between flights, you should realistically not have a problem.
FR has superb punctuality. To illustrate, I have flown FR over 70 times to date with my longest delay being 30 minutes - due to bad snow at STN one February morning.
