Hey people!!! I have been an AAdvantage (One World) member for a long time know, yet know that Swiss has been bought by Lufthansa, maybe Star Alliance will be a better choice for me. Do you think United will survive?? Will LAN begin direct service to Europe from Argentina with "Lan Argentina"? Who do you think is best and more realiable in the long term?? Star Alliance or One World?? Consider I'm in South America, and more specifically, in Buenos Aires, Argentina! Thanks!

I think it really depends on the airport from where you depart mostly. For me it will be Star because the biggest operator out of Zurich (Swiss) will soon join Star.
We have here,
Star:
Lufthansa/Swiss, AUA, SAS, TAP, LOT, Spanair, Singapore, Thai, Air Canada, United, South African (I think it will join Star soon): 12

Quoting Avianca (Reply 4): think mostly flights to/within south america = star
good frequencies with one world (AA and LA)
also very nice = Skyteam,
so I always took the cheapest...
You mean within Brazil in the case of star. A Colombian would not go thru GRU to fly to UIO....Or thru YYZ to go to LIM. The best in Southamerica is OneWorld, followed by skyteam.
