Hey people!!! I have been an AAdvantage (One World) member for a long time know, yet know that Swiss has been bought by Lufthansa, maybe Star Alliance will be a better choice for me. Do you think United will survive?? Will LAN (One World)begin direct service to Europe from Argentina with "Lan Argentina"? Who do you think is best and more reliable in the long term?? Star Alliance or One World?? Consider I'm in South America, and more specifically, in Buenos Aires, Argentina!
Thanks!

I think the direct flights of Lan Argentina to Europe is just a matter of time...

I'd say OW seems more likely to hub in Buenos Aires now...

My openinon Star will be better for Latin American now with TPA just joining them. There is LH that has direct flight from Argentina to Europe. There is also Varig, TAP and UA. SpanAir might ersume its flights You will have more choice and better connections on Star then OW.

I prefer Star over OneWorld, and you have RG and LH serving Argentina. But then again, BA and IB are also flying to Argentina, so it doesn't really matter.

I prefer Star also - good coverage of Europe, US, South America, soon to add SAA to cover africa.

Plus unlike Oneworld, you never have to worry about whether you're eligable for mileage credit across the Atlantic ...

I'd go with Star if I were you. Great coverage and I find that OneWorld has too many restrictions and complications.

cheers,
Patrick

If you chose Star, you would have LH flying to main hubs in south America including Buenos Aires, then you are automatically connected to the rest of Europe, since LH, SAS, BMI, LOT, Austrian, Spanair and TAP basically serve the whole of Europe. You'd be well connected in Asia as well, with Thai, SQ, Asiana, and ANA. North America as well with UA, US airways(Let's hope that they will survive),and Air Canada. You'd be well connected throughout South America with Varig.
Throughout Australia/New Zealand there is Air New Zealand, and Thai+SQ also fly to Major hubs throughout Australia and New Zealand.
As for Africa, LH flies to all major hubs in Africa, Johannesburg, Cape Town, Lagos etc. and South African will join Star soon as well(I think)
As for One world, with only 8 airlines in the alliance, really not that much of a choice, example, Cathay Pacific being the only airline in Asia.
So, i think you'd be better of with Star Alliance.
Hope this helps

Cheers, Konstantin G.

Think both are great, but for brazilians Star is better, RG has a good coverage to EU and US, plus SA)">UA and TP soon to be SA.

If U fly a lot to US, Star is better, to EU, OW is better, it´s very relative, try to get a card from both, so when U fly u´ll get FF miles anyway.
