I'm pretty sure it's the credit card swiper thingy-ma-jig-bob. I have no idea why it's there, though: seeing as how you don't have to pay for anything. Maybe someone else can help you out with that a little more.

Yes, it is the credit card swiper. When jetBlue ordered the PTV screens years ago (in MEGA bulk quantities), the DirecTV service was going to be $5 per flight. However, at the very last minute, they decided to make the service free. As the IFE expands, jetBlue will be adding Pay-Per-View movies (free on flights where DirecTV service cannot be accessed)-- these will be available by either paying the FA or swiping the card.
