Hi all  wave  !

I'm flying to Germany next week and I have a few questions that you might be able to help me with...

I'm flying with AS640 from YVR-SEA (hopefully a MD-80), connecting to NW210 from SEA-DTW and connecting to NW52 from DTW-FRA.

1) Anyone know if I have to switch terminals in SEA?

2) I've never been in DTW before so I was wondering once I arrive there, do I have to go through any extra security check points or do I have time for a coffee somewhere?

Thanks in advance!

Cheers,
Patrick

You'll have to switch terminals at SEA. AS will arrive in Terminal C or D. NW departs from the north satellite. There is a shuttle bus that goes from the early C gates (C2?) to th North satellite so you don't have to leave security.

No need to change terminals at DTW - the new terminal is Loooong and beautiful. There is an inside air train. Depending on your arrival/departure gate at DTW that will determine your possibilities for a coffee break.

Wrong, they fly out of the South Satellite. SEA.shtml" target=_blank>http://www.nwa.com/travel/trave/airports/SEA.shtml

No extra security in DTW, just show them your passport at the gate just like any other international flight, but unlike Europe, your not put in a "holding pen"

Well Patrick, I hope that you will be happy to hear that you will, in fact, by flying YVR to SEA onboard an AS MD-83, according to Flyte.com.

Cheers

Sure, we're concerned for our lives. Just not as concerned as saving 9 bucks on a roundtrip to Ft. Myers.

Thanks for the replies guys, I really appreciate your help and comments.

I haven't been in SEA since 1997 and that was with DL and UA. And I remember that they had an underground tram going between the terminals.

I'm really looking forward to seeing DTW and all the pretty red planes!  Smile

As far as AS640 and the MD-80, my e-ticket and other websites that I've checked myself say it's an MD-80 as well. I just hope that they are accurate! It's just a bit questionable if you think about it though because YVR - SEA is only 127nm and ususally operated with a Dash 8. But since AS640 continues on to LAS, it may very well be a MD-80.

Thanks again.

Cheers,
Patrick

A flight on a dash-8 would be operated by Horizon. I don't know any flight number specifics, but usually the QX flight numbers have four numeric digits. AS123 is sure to be Alaska and AS4567 is sure to be Horizon. Looks to me like an MD!

Oops! Got north and south mixed up. Either way, you still have to take the bus from the C gates if you don't want to leave security.
