I was looking to get a family member a gift of a round trip first class ticket on a domestic U.S. carrier. Who in your opinion is the best? What would be the best equipment to use on the trip. I'm looking at something in the area of 2 to 4 hours depending on the final destination but the origination point would be MCO so the choices of airlines are virtually unlimited. Domestic I have been on NW DC9-30 and DL 767.

I think United's First Class product is the best, provided that you can either get on a plane usually used for international routes or get on a p.s. flight.

I personally don't like U.S. carrier's service at all, but I would say CO and UA has a "good" product [both far behind most Europeans and some LatAm carriers, like BA, AF, LA among others]. Just a very personal opinion, based on my personal experiences. Not intended to offend anybody.

Thanks for the tips. Its hard to find much in the way of NS without being on something small like a DC9 or MD80. Otherwise you have to connect somewhere if you want to get something bigger.

TACA is right on the money here. US Flagged carriers, as a rule these days, regardless of where they are going domestically, simply suck for service regardless of ticket class. So, if you must go domestic F, I pick CONTINENTAL as the #1 . . . UA trailing a very, very distant second, and no one else.
