I plan on flying with US Airways from LGA to San Diego. US Airways offers connecting flights at Pittsburgh or Philadelphia. I was wondering which would be a better option if flying time / routing was not an issue.
Thanks for your input

Wassch-You could also try Charlotte, which has the choice of flights of Philadelphia (in fact, US Airways' Charlotte operation is larger than their Philadelphia one), but does not have the delay problems of Philadelphia.

Yeah...but if I had to be stuck or delayed anyplace, I'd rather it be Philly; the spotting options are quite slim at PIT and CLT compared to PHL. Just my two cents.

Go with PIT both PHL and CLT are have been known to have delays. PIT is a nice airport with sort of a mall built inside incase your delayed it will give you something to do.

I have flown LGW-PHL-LGA numerous times...
Never really had any problems connecting at PHL, once through immigrations and baggage reclaim you get through quite quickly.
The only problem with the PHL-LGA they are operated from the F Terminal (US Airways Express) and when walking from the A West Terminal you have to walk miles!
Also if flying from PHL-LGA you are likely to end up on a CRJ or Dash 8-100, so depends if you mind flying on a commuter aircraft - which seems to bother many people on here!

There is a courtesy shuttle bus that links Terminals C and F; the boarding points are at Gates C16 and F10. This eliminates some of the long walk and the hassle of going though security again.

In the meantime it seems that I will most likely fly CO, EWR-SAN after all. I just realized that they had a promotion for the people going to the convention I plan on attending in San Diego, at the end the fares match US and I get to keep the miles for my Fréquence Plus card. That will be the longest nonstop flight on a 737 I ever had...
Thanks for the input!

I agree.when it comes to planes, PHL has much more to offer than PIT and CLT. Also, PHL is more exciting, I like all the confusion of big airports.
I flew through all three of US's hubs several times, and the worst thing that happened was my flight was delayed. None of my bags were ever lost or anything, and I never missed any connections.
As for CLT, I haven't been there in about a year, but I remember it to be a very nice airport. Very easy to make connections, clean, and friendly employees.
PIT is also a good airport. Although, I found it to be a little difficult to navigate the last time I was there. All in all, I would choose PHL.

PHL is has more "drama" actions ... more airport employees, bigger airport, bigger aircraft, so on...

Let's see.... Pitt is a well layed out, spacious airport with minimal delays for any reason. PHL is cramped, confusing, and delay-prone due to weather and volume. I'd say PIT definately.
