Best/Worst Airport Websites

What in your opinion is the best or worst airport website and why?

I'll start with the one here in town. I think the website for IND is bad. www.indianapolisairport.com . Often the arriving and departing flight information is incorrect. It was only when FL was added that they got around to adding Air Canada to the schedule. For quite a while the airport maps were incorrect as well. I think some of that has been finally updated. They are also lagging in updating news. There has been no news updated since December of 2004. You would think there would at least be something to announce the arrival of AirTran.

This extends over to thet website for the midfield terminal project which is as poorly updated. The "weekly" construction pics for the control tower are updated about once every 4 to 6 weeks. Most pics are updated even less frequently than that. I keep hoping for new updates but it just doesn't seem to come.

Are there any really good airport websites or is this kind of work the industry standard?

LHR's website (http://www.baa.co.uk/main/airports/heathrow/) is pretty good. JAX (my home airport) dosen't even have a website. I know there are some various airports in the middle-east and Asia that have pretty awesome websites.

One site I had seen somewhere before had webcams but don't remember which one it was. The LHR one looks pretty good. Has a nice photo gallery.

EWR has an incredibly bad website for such a nice airport. It's surprising to me that they would spend so much money on improving the place, yet the website would lead you to think that the airport is a total dump.

The website for BTV has been "under construction" for about the last four years.

As bad as that site is I think a hit counter, frames, animated gifs and background music (all taboo in the development world) would actually help that place.

That is the authoring tool. This is almost too funny to be true. Now all we need is a page with a link to the hamsterdance website  Smile

SAN's (http://www.san.org) is pretty awful for no aparent reason. Format is awful, terminal maps haven't been updated in ages, they rarely have new service announcements... A lot of the other information that one may be looking for is _there_ it's just impossible to find without resorting to Google and adding "site:san.org" to the end of the query.

A friend has written them several times over the past few years to no avail...

Heck I think either of us would be glad to whip something else up on a volunteer basis if thats what it took...

Then again PLN (Pellston, Michigan)'s site at http://www.pellstonairport.com/ hasn't been touched in over a year -- still has the "architect's rendering" of the new terminal, and they've been using it for like 18 months now, with more information "coming soon"

PDX's website looked quite nice, though...

BOS has a very hard to navigate site. I would have hoped they would have a simple, easy to read page with good terminal diagrams. But no!

FLL is ok but I think a great site is the one for PBI don't have the link but they have a webcam that you can move around and get nice views of the tower and some hangers and a few other spots. PHL also has a live webcam which is not bad.

I would agree the OKC site is good. Easy to use and gives you want you want. It also has a good terminal map and a decent photo gallery of the new construction.

I'd say the worst website has to be the Puerto Rico Ports Authority website for SJU (and BQN, etc). Why? Because there isn't one.

The closest thing to a website for SJU is this crappy page.

The pain.. the horror. Hmmmm.. I see a market in need of services. But I suspect these sites look like they do because airport management is cheap when it comes to this kind of promotion.

actually I find that OKC 's site is often incorrect when it comes to flight times, and destination/arrival info. Maybe when the airport construction is finished it will be 100% LOL as the interface is very nice.

the much derided IAH site has gotten much better over the last few years, and I like the search function better now. Though it could get updated with news faster.

The site for AUS is pretty good! Here it is...

Also, here is a statistical display of their inflow/outflow information:

I really like looking at the statistical reports.
