Reading lots and lots of trip reports on a.net, it seems that alot of people strike great deals when flying across the Pacific...even heard of an MH deal of $300 from TPE to LAX. Then there's me, paying $670 on NW, or $1400 on SQ Exec Econ. I was wondering if anyone here knew where I could find really comptetive airfares from Manila to LAX...it would be better if the flight stopped at NRT, as it is the fastest way to get to LAX from MNL I think...the main segment I need help with is the NRT to LAX part. I would really like to stick to the Star Alliance as I have Gold membership with them; so that would minimize the choices to SQ, NH, UA or RG. I would really like to get on either SQ or NH) but its near impossible, then there is the outrageous fare of $2,200 just from NRT to LAX on SQ...help please!

Also, wondering what the mileage rules were to use miles to upragde from Econ to Business with Star Alliance airlines, specially on SQ or NH?I hold a Star Gold Card with United if that helps any...what are the chances I can transfer my account from United to either Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer/Star Alliance or Thai Airways Royal Orchid/Star Alliance cards?
