I have decided to cash in my AA points and use them towards a BA FIRST ticket from LHR to CPT/R! I thought for a few minutes that I could save a few points and instead go CLUB (World) instead. Looking at the seat diagram and pictures, I honestly can't see how that cabin would either be comfortable or enjoyable with the seats packed into CLUB (World) like that, let alone the reversed seats! It seams to me that some 744's of other airlines maintain a 2x2x2 configuration while others do 2x3x2 configuration.

Can anyone share with me there feeleings with what appears to be a cramped cabin and when it comes to having the points, just pile them into FIRST and not worry about it....

Well I am going to play both sides here as I usually fly Club World although have just redeemed miles to take two to CPT in First!

Personally Club World is not as cramped as it looks, especially on the upper deck. Here is a photo I took recently.

While the 2-4-2 configuration on the main deck of 747 and 777 is rather cramped and does feel like a flying youth hostel the upper deck is quite superb. If you get the right seats upstairs (62A/K, 64A/K) then you can get the privacy of the window seat (take into account the shelves up there too) and also the easy access to the aisle.

You may benefit from reading a couple of my trip reports on Club World.

Depending on how many miles you have I'd go for First, or perhaps one way on the dayflight CPT-LHR to make the most of the service. To be honest I always prefer to pay for Club World and save miles for trips in First, makes most sense economically.

remember that the 2-4-2 may seem abnormal, but... you shoudl really look at the inches of seat width rather than the config, because it is a bit artificial: the CW cabin has half the seats facing backwards, so each seat trades a bit if lower body space of theirs for the partner seat's lwer body space (ie your feet, where you need less space than for your elbows, and both seats gain quite a bit of space for their upper halves. It is a very useful use of space, because it increases effective utilisation of the cabin, whereas tradtional configs are have quite a bit if wasted space around the feet.

BA Club World is fantastic if you choose the correct seats. I agree with Fbgdavidson's seat selection. I flew BA Club World last January YYZ-LHR and had seat 64K on the upper deck. It was the perfect seat for someone like me. Very spacious and private. Ample leg room, easy aisle access, 3 windows to myself for a wonderful view and when I put up the divider between the seats I felt like I was alone on the plane, it was beautiful.I even had plenty of space between my seat and the cabin wall to turn and sit sideways so I could gaze out the windows at the night sky, saw 2 falling stars, nice. Less passenger seats on the upper deck also means a quieter cabin which is precious to me. You also have plenty of storage bins down beside your seat so don't have to bother with overhead ones. This was the only flight I've ever been on where I actually wished it had been longer.
Now, I haven't flown First so can't compare the two but, being in 64K, I didn't feel like I was missing out on anything at all.
I love the 777, it's my preferred ride, but I don't like the cabin config on it.(I think in that situation I would look for a similar seat to my 747 one). I don't enjoy the 747 unless I'm upstairs. So it comes down to the best seat you can find. In Economy I'm an aisle girl(less cramped, less claustrophobic), in Business I'm a window girl(more private, more calm).
Whatever you choose you must give us a trip report. Good luck.

I'm a big fan of BA and BA Club World. If you can get a seat in the Upper Deck, you are not going to miss First at all. If you are flying a 777, go First - the engine rumble in the CW cabin is very noticeable. If you are very tall, then First will also work better for you.

I wholeleartedly agree with BA380, fbgdavidson and Cirrostatus - they know what they are talking about.

Have a great trip!
