As far as the GRU-YYZ is concerned, you'll be travelling with a B763, so no PTV's. However, they do show lots of great movies on the main monitors. Seats are comfortable, food is great and service is fantastic.
Who are you flying with from ASU - GRU?

I like AA, but the plane was not in great shape and the flight attendants were ruder than you know what and this was Business Class. I thought mayne it was a fluke flying doen there but it was not better flying back. Hope your experience is better.

The acft used on YYZ-GRU have individual PTV's. seatguru isn't always accurate.
In case you missed it, AC will be installing PTV's in every seat on all it's acft starting in the fall. It won't all happen overnight, new acft orders from Boeing will have it installed at the factory, any Bombardier or Embraer acft delivered before the fall will be retro-fitted.

I believe the flight from YYZ to GRU on AC has Sony watchman dvd players which are distributed to passengers upon request in Business (J) Class. It's such a late departure from YYZ that many passengers opt to sleep. C class ticket generally refers to a fare level in the Economy cabin.
If I recall correctly, there was a cold meal served after takeoff and then drinks and sandwiches were available during the flight in the galley area at the back of the aircraft for those who couldn't sleep or who were still hungry. A hot breakfast was served before landing.

I have the same experience in a GIG-MIA and MIA-GRU AA's flights. Bad service (even in biz), old and not so confortable seats and attendants very, very rude. It seems they have a little obligation when smile. I nowadays preffer JJ planes or AA's 777 (but they do not have AVOD system in GIG-JFK or GRU-MIA). Hope our friend can have a nice trip.
Service in AC its very good, and seems that the 767 fleet will be replaced/upgraded in the near future.
Anyone knows how it's the loads in GRU-YYZ ?
New York + Rio de Janeiro = One of the best combinations !

Do I read you correctly, that the retrofit will start in the fall? i.e., no chance the 763 or 330 flying to LHR will be upgraded by August?

Oh dear...bad choice here. I would rather fly PZ with the F100 or even RG with their B757 or B737 serving ASU - if you fly RG you would get Star miles on both RG and AC flights. But maybe you decided for AA because of connection times...
Felipe: AC has excellent loads to GRU: 93% (average 2004 loads). Very high loads, indeed. We could very soon expect AC either to deploy a bigger airplane or even maybe start GIG nonstop or increase GRU 10 weekly. So expect full flight in Biz and Economy.
I choose AA because RG is always full on C and PZ doesn´t have C on ASU/GRU.
FA on AA: There are some of them who usually fly MIA/GRU/GIG, that not only rude, terrible attitude!!! Mainly peruvian based crew. (nothing against Peru nationals) but to be honest............ you will understand.
You can expect this to change by the end of the year. TAM is planning to deploy the A320 or A319 to ASU. After all, with GOL landing in ASU it will bring another dinamic to the local aviation market...
