Following the rejection of the EU Treaty in France and The Netherlands, the EU Treaty faces collapse, thus, the end of crossing borders within the EU could become a thing of the past without a Passport.
Will this affect you greatly?.
As a UK resident this represents a 20-30 mins delay at customs, and, maybe; a curtailment of duty free / tax exempt rights on tobacco and alcohol.
Time will tell what happens to the EU Rights and the Schengen Treaty, maybe one will survive without the other?.
