I asked a couple of days ago about the best airline for travel to Taiwan. As it now has turned out, other than I had thought I will be able to travel in Biz, but due to a cap on travel expenses the choice is down to China Airlines or EVA Airways.
As I can connect through all European airports both airlines serve, the choice is not only between the two airlines, but also between different aircraft they operate to Europe.
What would be the best business product overall, taking seats, IFE, IFS and other perks into consideration (both FFP are more or less useless to me):
EVA Airways:
Boeing 777-300 (from LHR)
Boeing 747 (from AMS and CDG)
(it seems that the Boeing 747, which is the only option for the return flight, still has the old Biz class, while the A330-200s and B777-300s have the new Laurel class ?)
China Airlines:
Airbus A340-300 (from FRA/VIE)
Boeing 747-400 (from AMS)
(is it the same problem here - old Biz class on the B747 and new biz class on the A340 ?)

This is difficult, as said above, I think you would rather want EVA's premium laurel (they really need to tone down all the different classes!) over just Biz/Laurel. China Airline's seats don't look like the most beautiful things, but yet they are probably comfortable, but the 6in screen is a bit lousy and to what I understand, only offers 10 games and airshow. EVA's is much better, but you lose anywhere from 3 to 5 inches or so of seat pitch. To me if EVA was cheaper, or no more then 60 bucks more expensive I would take them, but China Airlines might have the upper hand, even though EVA's service will probably be better.
