Hi there all,

as many will have read, i am flying to Toronto on Sep. 11th. I have a Y ticket, but i'm going to try like a bear to get an upgrade...

So what would you recommend i travel in? Nice jeans and a smart t-shirt maybe? Or shirt?

Thanks

Gav

Good luck with that  Wink

Are you *A elite by any means?
Do you have a full fare ticket?

If no then your chances are minimal at best. Your only chance then is if the flight fills up at the last minute and GAs are forced to roll random people forward in which case your dress code counts for nothing.

Wearing jeans gets you straight at the back of the plane. Wearing a nice pair of pants, a tucked in shirt and a blazer will get u a lil closer. Though unless you have some salt an pepper hair and look "business like" the chances of being upgraded are slim to none as the airline has no benefit in having u at the front of the bird. Your best bet is knowing somebody at the airport working for AC. Then the sky is your limit.

Everytime I've been upgraded, I was just wearing a tshirt and shorts. I think it depends more on how much the check-in agent likes you than anything. That's been my experience anyway.

I have never been upgraded on AC - seems to be the legacy of good old CP! I was a travel agent, travelled in black pants and white shirt (no tie though), and the CP check-in bitch asked me how I'd dare to check in with an agent ticket dressed like that (I didn't ask for an upgrade - just wanted to check in for my economy seat YVR-YEG). Back home I heard from quite a few colleagues that CP was like that. Strange, because other than that I loved them...

Cheers
