No rides across the atlantic, but I have taken UA 777's between HNL and NRT in both business and coach. Its a comfortable ride and I like the interiors. Coach service is pretty much coach service. The FA's were pretty attentive up in front. I'm not sure why, but they stopped all the IFE, including audio (Channel 9 too damnit!) during Take-off and landing. I have only flown with PTV's on these trips, so maybe they have to shut off the video and they audio just goes with it.

I only flew a UA 777 IDA-FRA on a combined UA/LH ticket. It was in coach, and not long after the 777 was introduced (March 1996). Was very impressive at the time. Great interior. The IFE was great, but not AVOD like others have now. Service: The F/A's did a disappearing act right after dinner for most of the flight. Our return flight on LH was such a polar opposite experience. The F/A's were up & down the aisles constantly with trays of water, juice and soft drinks in between actual "services". What a difference!

UA's 777 service is pretty good. Not as good as most of the European carriers, and the lack of AVOD IFE is a pain, but will get resolved after BK is over.
If you're travelling in Business, I personally prefer the 747, but that's just me.
UA's food service is actually quite good, and I've found that if you are friendly with the flight attendants and good natured, the attentiveness increases. One trick that has worked wonders for me - again, in Business Class - is when they ask preference for meal choice I say something like, "Well, it doesn't much matter - if you're running low on something, just bring me whatever you have enough of."
The response is always very appreciative, then they ask what my preference would be anyhow, and I always seem to get it!

The 777's are nice, and granted service isn't always the best. F/A's in the US don't serve you quit like anybody else in the world, they think of themselves first, then you. But the lane is great, and the time will fly by with the PTV.

I did IAD-LHR and LHR-ORD 2 years back. I liked United's service, and the connections to/from BUF. Of course, channel 9 is the ultimate inflight entertainment for an aviation lover. The only downside was that I felt that the seats were small and narrow with little pitch on both flights. I know they are not smaller than with most other airlines, but it just felt like it. Other than that I had great flights...

Flew UA904 and UA905 back in February. Food was good - choice of chicken or pasta and some rather nice Yorkshire Dales Toffee Ice-cream and then a snack consisting of a sandwich, crips and Twix. Several drinks round were made, including pretzels shortly after take-off. They also came back round with leftover ice-cream, which I couldn't refuse...
The PTVs were entertaining with a good range of films and obviously Channel 9 (tip: take your own headphone as they collect in United ones at the start of decent, meaning you miss out on the 'best' bit). Return leg, was seated in Premium-economy (slightly more leg-room but not worth paying for considering the chances you'll be put there for free anyway) the service was a little lacking, but I'd put it down to the flight times (red-eye). Overall, highly recommended flying!

Shoulda dropped me a line! I have flown UK-US approx 10 times in the T7 with United, in all classes and found them to be very good.
Economy service is efficient. The seats are fairly comfortable (and an inch wider AFAIR than the 747) and have the seat back TV. Programming is not fantastic, but there should be a couple of movies that appeal and can make the trip pass a little quicker. Channel 9 is obviously pretty good fun, and take heed of the tip above about your own headphones! Meals aren't bad, though I usually go for the low-fat stuff now as I don't think it is always particularly healthy, particularly the snack pre-landing which is (was) crisps, cheese ham and egg bagel and chocolate, but its nice to have a choice.
Legroom is a little limited, but I like the 2-5-2 in Economy.
EconomyPlus is nice if you can get it.. go for the last row of EconPlus if you can, so you can sit back in comfort without "recliners remorse!"
Which class are you travelling in?
Business is nice... not the flat beds, but I prefer it over BA.
Or are you going First Class? (you flash git!) It IS great!

When I flew UA's T7 last year, the F/As were collecting the headphones during descent. I asked if I could hold on to mine so I could listen to Ch. 9 and the F/A agreed. On my return trip, they did not collect them at all.
