Hi,
after I got the 50.000 BA miles for my cancelled YYZ-LHR flight I'm thinking about what I should do with these miles.
I found a lot of informations on the BA page but I didn't understand two things:
1. According to the BA page I need 50.000 for a Europe-USA flight. Does it matter if I need an AA connection flight in the US e.g. from ORD to NewOrleans?
2. Do I have to use the "best" routing or can I choose my favorite routing?

No, it doesn't matter, you still have to pay 50.000 miles but of course more taxes and fees.

I don't know how the conditions are at BA but at LH you could always chose the routing that you wanted (don't know if it is still possible).

Tobi,
Your best bet would be to spak with an BA representative over the phone or directly at their office....they'll prolly have all the answers and can guide you as to what is best..
BTW, why not try using those miles for an upgrade I have heard BA long haul first class and business class are really good

What is your total BA miles balance?
To be honest I'd recommend using 25k of them to upgrade a WT+ return ticket from UK-US/Canada/Mexico/South Africa/Mauritius up to Club World. You have to book a fair distance in advance on many routes (up to a 11months in cases!) in order to get them, as you need both award availability in Business Class and revenue availability in World Traveller Plus. Another bonus of these MFUs are that you earn miles back off the ticket, so you use 25k to upgrade but will earn best part of 10k miles back from the flights. Pick your destinations right and you could get three MFUs!

I am 100% in agreement with FBG on this one -- that's what we do. As he says, for around 12-15 k miles net of new miles earned and a W ticket in cash, you get to fly Club return and get 150 TPs.
