Hi everyone. In my 12th grade high school economics class, we have to create a business of our own and creat a whole business plan for it due in a couple months but our ideas are due tomorrow in writing. I have decided to do an airline. It is a big undertaking but I am up for it. I would like to hear the feedback from the users here. Please share your ideas on these questions. Keep in mind, I am working on an imaginary small budget, as far as airline money goes.
1. What should the name of the airline be?
2. Where should it be based? (Will be US based)
3. Hub and Spoke system or Point to Point?
4. Types of Aircraft?
6. Perks on board?
7. Pepsi or Coke?

Here is my opinion. Starting an airline in todays market.......must be insane. However, the best bet of having a successful airline would probably be a regional airline, feeding into an major airlines hub. Pick any airline you want to feed for, but keep in mind that you need to pick an airline that can use you and has a need for you.
1.) How about JetAmerica. For your symbol, you can use the little stick figure at this website. http://www.justanswer.com/ However, instead of using "Just Answers", use JetAmerica. (this sucks, I am telling you my plans ) Heck, you can use the head as the "o" for "go", so it's "go JetAmerica"

1.) Steel Air would be the name of the airline. You could also use the slogan Steel Air: The spirit of Pittsburgh (where the airline would be based).
2.) Have you Headquarters in Cranberry, PA. Its the same town where many nationally based companies have there HQ (Such as American Eagle Outfitters). The Airport base would of course be Pittsburgh.
3.) PIT Hub (duh! )
4&5.) Make a fleet of EMB-175s and EMB-195s. Have service to popular destinations such as MCO, EWR, LGA, IAD, BOS, MIA, FLL, CHS, MSY, MSP, and more. Then, get a fleet of A-321s to do some west cost runs from PIT. Destinations such as: SEA, PDX, SFO, LAX, SAN, LAS, PHX, and DEN. Later on, create a seasonal service to South Padre Island, TX. (Hey, a guy can dream, cant he?)
6.) Sirius satellite Radio in every seat, Primanti Brothers Sanwiches on every flight (a Pittsburgh Favorite) along with Quaker Stake and Lube wings (another Pittsburgh Favorite!).
