CX, SQ and UA is the only airline that operate from SFO-HKG non-stop, people choose UA because of the lower fare, but they don't get PTV in economy class, but economy plus is pretty good because of the extra 5inches leg room. however, the arrive time is pretty late for some people that's why they choose CX or SQ both have PTV in economy class, the fare for CX and SQ is nearly the same price but both are $100 or more expansive than UA. plz any one who took this route before give me some comment about it.
my user name tells which i will choose

SQ2: Well I wouldn't thinK twice about spending an extra $100 for SQ or CX. They are almost a toss up, but I lean towards SQ for the flight attendants (those CX is up there).

I flew CX SFO-HKG-SFO last summer and was very impressed with their entertainment and service. I'd fly CX again in a heartbeat. UA's redeeming quality is their channel 9 audio. But if you're looking for comfort and service, you can't go wrong with SQ or CX.

I fly this route a few times per year on business class fares. Because I'm a UA 1K (from flying UA within the States), my choices are UA F, CX C, or SQ C. My last choice is UA F. UA don't even have curtains or stewardesses! All they have are noisy cabins lit all night by the galleys and flight attendants. What's the difference? The typical flight attendant is a bit like a stewardess but additionally has 50 kilograms, 50 years of seniority, and the customer service attitude of a prison guard. Spend the extra $100 and take CX or SQ. If only the US would repeal their cabotage laws....

flight attendants on UA, depends on some of them, and United, seniority date keeps them away from being lay off, i was so disappointed when i was on the UA 1st class, they are old but all we can do is take SQ or CX if we want a younger and better flight attendants.

I am an 1K flyer with UA, but I accrue most of my miles on other Star Alliance carriers not on UA. If I had a choice of UA or other Star Alliance carriers on the same route, I would pick the airline other than UA. Of course, my schedule often dictates which airline I have to use too.

Absolutely UA, I have always had the best experience on them.

Buddy, UA tries but fails in regards to high quality service when compared to CX or SQ. In my opinion it's a toss up but I'd end up going with SQ most likely.

Had the chance of flying with CX, SQ & UA. In theory, I should choose SQ because of my job with Star Alliance, but then, my mileage/credit card accounts sort of persuade me to go with CX. From a in flight entertainment point of view, I may go with SQ, just because it is fancier. But really, after a meal and a movie, I am more than happy to zzzzz....... In terms of service- wise, well...... IMOP, CX beats SQ quite a bit. They are a lot friendlier, not as bound by the rule, and a lot more genuine. Plus, they have a much simpler looking uniform, which gives a pretty refreshing look. So yea... I will go with CX.
Oh... almost forgot about UA, if there is any reason for me to go with them, they do have cheaper fare & pretty good Kosher meal + hot dog the last time I flew with them.

Well, from flying with these three airlines (unfortunately all flights were in Economy Class), my personal selection would be...
1. CX
2. UA
3. SQ
While comfort was best on UA's Economy Plus, the overall impression on CX was a bit better (although I have to admit that my last CX flights are a bit back - it was when CX didn't have PTVs).
Since I don't care for PTVs one little bit, I really don't care if UA has them or not, give me one or two inches more pitch instead, and I'll be happy.
As for SQ... no, I won't go there. Let's just sum it up with "Booked them, flew them, was greatly disappointed". I'd fly them again, but it'd have to be a really low fare!

You'll get there in either case. I'd personally choose CX, because they use RB211s. I would suspect that CX service is better than UA's (I did CX LAX-HKG-LAX) and its probably similar to that of SQ.

SQ has a great cabin crew. the ladies esp. haha im a 1k wit UA but u know after flying from HK-SFO/ORD/LAX hundreds of times, it has raarely improved..
whether its first/business or economy + they have'nt improved.. its been relatively the same.. yes i understand they are a lil cheaper but for just a minimal $100 i would pay it for singapore airlines. they are my favorite airlines.. even thoguh cockpit visits are forbidden and there is no CH 9. oh well but the food is better, you get ice cream =P and just their overal entertainment PTV system is the best outa all these airlines.. they have movie on demand (i think correct me if i'm wrong) but then UA they dont even have a simple PTV.. its a shame..
SQ, UA, CX

First of all, I work for SQ, just check my profile.
I have flown all three carriers on that route over the years. And I think it would be a toss up for CX or SQ. Depending on the cabin you were flying in and what FF program you're with.
UA would be my last choice. I have flown them and to me, it's not a very pleasurable experience.
I think both SQ and CX have their strengths and weaknesses. Ironically, they're pretty well matched and provide a very similar product. I am not sure, but I think the IFE on SQ has more selections.
