i would have a round the world trip with that... other airlines (same dates) are charging about the same or more

I had a co-worker last December buy a fully refundable coach ticket on US from SEA-PHL, which was around $2,000. I paid $300 for a non-refundable ticket on the same flight about a week and a half before departure. I thought $2,000 was outrageous and would definitely have cashed it in for a refundable ticket closer to departure, but I guess she didn't think of that.
