I am traveling on Tuesday November 22 from FLL to IAD on TED (First time on TED). I am not sure if is a A-319 or A-320. They will assign my seat on check in, any advice on where to sit?
Also, it is my first time traveling on thanksgiving week from FLL, is it Tuesday as bad as Thursday or Friday?

I will truly appreciate any advice.

Thanks in advance.

Since you're on TED it will be an A320. You should check out seatguru.com for the best seat. That website has always been very helpful for me in the past. You will have an assigned seat before boarding.

Flying on Tuesday is most likely going to be pretty crazy (if you're flying in the evening.) I believe traditionally Wednesday is one of the busiest travel days of the year. I have also heard that Thursday and Friday are actually the best days to travel during Thanksgiving weekend, because most people are already at their destinations. It will pick up again on Saturday and Sunday when everyone is trying to get home. Have a safe trip!

Thanks a lot. I will get earlier on Tuesday then, so I will get a better seat.
I will check seatguru.com.

Again, thanks.

Call United and get your seat assignment ahead of time. If you booked online, you should have done it then. If you called United reservations for your ticket, they should have given you a seat. In any case, call 800-864-8331.

Have lots of patience traveling during this next week. And, be kind to the airline employees who are working while others are enjoying holidays and family time.

LHUSA,

As a UAL pilot let me add my thanks for flying with us! Have you flown on an Airbus before? If not, and you are seated mid cabin and aft please don't be alarmed by the "barking dog" or "sawing wood" sound that comes from the mid cabin section after engine start and after parking at the gate. This is a hyd unit that runs a hyd pump with fluid from another system. The short story is it gives an unusal sound and some find it less than comforting. It is normal and in no way indicates a problem or that we are beating animals in the belly of the plane,  Wink

Again thanks for the business and hope you enjoy your flight. Don't forget we do offer CH9 on the audio headsets that allows you to listen in to the communications between the aircraft and ATC. All TED flights operate under the "United" call sign.

Take care and happy holiday.

Well, they asked me to go online one day before departure to book it I just hope that Ted's website will allow me to choose seats.

Don't worry, I always have that in mind.
It is my first time in Washington, so I am pretty excited. I have travelled all over the US but for some reason my trips to Washington never came through so I decided that this was it. I usually never travel domestic on Thanksgiving but it is my only available time now..

Question, the day I travel will be my birthday, do you think that will work for an Upgrade? lol

Believe me, I will, being on a plane is half the vacations for me and if the plane moves (hits some turbulence) that's even better, people look at me with a freak expression everytime I said that.  Wink
I've been in UAL many times and I have never had an unpleasant trip, always good. It will be my first time in TED though.

Yes, many times. My first Airbus experience was with ACES - Colombia and then with other many airlines here in the US. I hear the noise everytime and figured it got to do with the functioning of the airplane, but never got the real story, so thank you for the explanation.

Lol, jokes on you!! Ted planes are one class...no domestic first. They do have a few rows of "Economy Plus" which is a bit more leg room, but still 6 across seating. So, maybe on your birthday you'll get "upgraded" to E-plus!
I live in DC...you'll love it....though it's a bit colder than Fort Lauderdale. If you have time, visit the neighborhoods of DC....Adams Morgan, Dupont, Eastern Market....and not just the monuments and museums.

Mcdu...great to have an enthusiastic and helpful United pilot on the forum. I'm almost exclusively a United flyer and think they have GREAT employees. Thanks for all you do.

HAHA, well, I settle for a 11 row aisle.. lol  Wink

I am sure I will enjoyed it. We chose a small and old bed an breakfast near Dupont Circle, (Rhode Island avenue, I think) don't want to go to typical luxury hotels on such an historic city. How's the temperature and weather these days? I know you said a little colder than FLL but I thought it will be a lot colder not a little.

I agree with you, UAL people have been great always on my flights and ground.

A LOT colder!  Big grin Low was in the 20s last night. High today will be in the upper 40s....rain Thursday but sunny the rest of the weekend.

Enjoy!

As some others say, be early at the airport. Remember that because of the holiday the airport will be like crazy. Don't forget your coat and gloves.

Have a safe trip and happy holiday!

I flew MCO-ORD on TED a month ago and I would really recommend the exitrow seats. The best legroom I ever had. I got to the airport rather early and they gave it to me. TED is wonderful and make sure you take advantage of CH9 it's amazing.

Enjoy your flight!

Mischa
