Hello Everybody,
I have just booked my flights to Singapore for next summer. The itineary being BHX-DXB-SIN and return. I was just wondering about other members experiences of EK's service in the past.
Also I would like to know how stressful or not transferring flights in DXB can be. Can I just go fro one flight to the next without doing anything , just like I did when I went on KL in the summer of 2004.
Finally what are the best seats in Y class on EK's 332s and 772s and what is the likelyhood that the new ice entertianment system will be implemted into these aircraft, by the time i fly on the 11/07/06.

Hi there! Having travelled with EK numerous times, I hope I can be of some help to you..
When you disembark from you aircraft in DXB, you'll take an escalator upstairs, and then walk along a platform thats above the deprture area (ie. duty free etc.) if you keep walking along this, you'll evenually get to customs. U DONT WANT THIS IS YOUR TRANSFERRING. along the way you'll see signs pointing for 'transferring passengers' or something like that. Go there. You'll go through security again, go down an escalator, and be in the depatrue area where you can then board your flight to SIN. I'm nt too sure about the ICE system, though I doubt it will be on the 772, as EK only has a few of them. You'd probably have more luck if your flight was a 773, and definately have ICE if there was a a/c swap to a 773ER.

Quoting B742 (Reply 2): Alex, which BHX-DXB-BHX flights are you on, the schedule is showing one daily A330-200 and one daily 777-200?
EK 38 on the 10/07/06 and EK 39 on the 11/08/06.
Quoting B742 (Reply 2): DXB-SIN is shown to be flown by the 777-300 and A330-200's next summer!
EK 352 on the 11/07/06 and EK 344 on the 11/08/06.

A couple of days before I booked the flights the DXB0BHX sector was listed as a 773ER, so there must be some more noteworthy flights elsewhere that deserve this new great aircraft.

DXB-BHX-DXB has be flown a couple of times by the 777-300ER, but it is not scheduled for BHX!

Very Interesting Info there B742, thanks very much!
That will be intresting to fly three sectors on the Airbus A330-200, another aircraft type that I am yet to fly on. I have flown on a 772 before, with the marvellous SQ (hence my surname) , but found only just now that EK has a 3-4-3 config.
What a shame that I was not able to consider QR as an airline, I have heard great things about them, unforetunately, it was not my desire to arrive back in the UK in the evening, as I would then have a 2.5 hour train ride to get home.
I have also heard that EK do tend to throw upgrades like it's your birthday on nearly every flight. Is this true and what possible steps could be taken to be considered for an upgrade.

I find the A330-200's very comfy, they are in a 2-4-2 config in economy, which isn't to bad!
3-4-3 is barable on the 777's though, its not as bad as 2-4-2 on the 767

Yea, QR is a excellent airline, one of the best I've ever flown on A shame it didn't fit into your schedule!

I flew BHX-DXB-BKK two years ago, I was asked at BHX if I wanted to go to MAN by a private car and be upgraded to business class for free! We were offered the upgrade as the flight was full (delayed aswell) at BHX! Its pretty much luck, just get to the airport first and dress kind of smart, you may be lucky
Anymore help just ask, I've flown the BHX-DXB sector many times, and I've also flown EK many times

I passed through DXB flying Emirates from ZRH to HKG (and on my way back) a year ago.
I don't know how many times I had heard how great DXB was so I couldn't wait to get there. But hey, that was a real disappointment. That place was chock-a-block with people waiting for their connections. As it was late at night, they were even lying on the floor, trying to get some sleep, by far not enough seats for everyone. And the shopping is just not worth it - unless you're really into gold or lottery tickets. Otherwise it's just the same junk you'll get at about any large airport.
Suppose it's fine if you're whisked off to one of these beautiful lounges or if you pay a lot extra to spend a couple of hours in an airport hotel bed. Otherwise certainly not.

Just transfered in DBX on EK last week. It went nice and smooth terminal is very nice with a great duty free shopping center and food court. The service was excellent and their coach set up on the a340 is quite nice. Try seatguru.com to find the best seat choices.
