First, Hornet is not a nickname but (semi) official.

Viper is a good one for the F-16.

Here, the BAe 146 is sometimes nicknamed Willie Wortel (Gyro Gearloose in Dutch) probably because it's such a strange contraption. Which did outlive the Fokker F.28/70 by the way.

Stringbag for the Fairey Swordfish.

MD-88 aka MadDog (what a great name for such a tame plane)
F-4 aka Phantom
F-4G aka Wild Weasel
B-52 aka Buff (A319XFW beat me to it)
U-2 aka Dragon Lady
KC-10 aka Extender
DeHavilland DH-6(?) aka Beaver
The Embraer micromini jets aka Barbie Jets or Jungle Jets

I don't like the F-22 Raptor name. Too many things got named after freaking dinosaurs after "Jurassic Park" came out in the 90s. That said, they fly over my house in Marietta, GA quite often and they would scare the crap out of me if I was one of the bad guys.

I swear ComAir and ASA even listed this nickname on their websites, literature, etc.

That'd be correct. The unofficial nickname of the F/A-18 is the "Plastic Bug" and F/A-18E/Fs have an unofficial nickname that's a blast from the past - "Rhino."
