Routing FRA - TAS?

Hi there!

I'm planning a trip to Tashkent in 2006. Ich checked some routings, but there's no interesting connection. Most conventional is FRA - TAS nonstop with Uzbekistan Airways or via SVO.

I'm a Frequent Traveller on LH's Miles & More system and looking for possibilities to fly with Star Allience.

Now I found a routing with LH FRA - ICN (A340 642) and OZ ICN - TAS (B767). Maybe you know some other connections via Asia? Please let me know.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!!!

Stefan

StefanPAD, Welcome to A.net !

Have you tried the tool to plann Round the World trips which can be downloaded from www.staralliance.com ?
Also you should be able to find timetables over there.

Hi HT!

Thanks for your fast reply. I know the website of Star Allience, but it's a disadvantage, because I have to name the exactly day of the trip (not +/- 3 days). OZ serves TAS only two times a week, so I found the connection via ICN by hazard. It would be better, if the website informs that the routing could be able on another day. And I've to ask specifically for the flight ICN- TAS on Tuesday or friday. A connection from FRA is not shown.

So either I'd have to check every several day for inbound and for outbound flights, or I'd have to ask one of the flight enthusiasts here. Maybe there's someone who knows a more interesting routing via middle east or asia.

But thanks for your tip!

Stefan

Can you give us a rough time frame (= months in which you´d like to travel) to play with ? Also: What´s your preferred departure airport ? PAD ? HAJ ?
Or how far would you be willing to travel to a different departure airport ?

Have you tried to build connections via BKK ?

TK is offering connections to TUS via IST (at least from FRA and DUS).

If you don´t mind to travel on seperate tickets, you probably can also fly through DXB or similar.
Build a routing through Teheran THR ?

Hi HT!

Thanks a lot for your warm welcome at A.Net. I know this website for only a few hours, but it's very interesting and very useful.

My prefered departure Airport is PAD, but HAJ would also be ok. Anyway, every routing on western airlines goes via FRA.

I've read about the routings via IST and THR. But these cities are not that interesting for an stopover like BKK, SIN, DXB or HKG.

I didn't notice a connection via DXB yet. Do you know any? Or do you know a website for further information. I've tried Opodo and Expedia allready, but it's only for usual travellers.

Have you any experiences with Uzbekistan Airlines?

Greetings,
Stefan

This will limit your number of airlines dramatically, especially when BA pulls out of flying LGW-HAJ ! So I understand your interest to fly on StarAlliance.

After only a few hours you signed in as a First Class member ?!

You could also use BA (form DUS) via LHR and continue on BMED via Jerevan ...

Quoting StefanPAD (Reply 4):
stopover like BKK, SIN, DXB or HKG.

The problem with stops in BKK, SIN or HKG will be that you will backtrack in your routing.
If flying on a RTW-ticket, you should check whether this is allowed or not.
If flying on a regular return ticket Germany-TAS, a routing via BKK/SIN/HKG probably will drive up costs !

None of the "regulars" seem to offer such a routing.
Also, www.amadeus.net does not list any non-stops between DXB and TAS (for flights in May 2005), but you could connect in THR (need a visa ?).
Also, there should be other carriers available out of the UAE who are not available on Amadeus (but I don´t know how to check/book their flights).

No.

Again: A rough time frame would be helpful ... !

Weird (and potentially expensive) routings FRA - TAS:

One more suggestion (though not StarAlliance & you´ll need to get a visa for Russia for this one !):
on Siberia S7 www.s7.ru (available also in languages EN and DE)

HAJ - DME - OVB - TAS - IKT - DME - HAJ (or swap IKT and OVB).
For DME - OVB you could get a IL-86 ...

Probably not possible to get a quote online, but a call to a S7-representative in Germany might be worth the effort ... ?!

Second option from Amadeus:
Get a flight into the UAE.
Then Indian Airlines SHJ - DEL - TAS
Return: Indian Airlines TAS - DEL and a RB B747 DEL - SHJ

btw, there are no good options out of AUH or DXB)
