I am torn between:

Eastern

Southern

Piedmont

...

on the whole, i would have to say Eastern ... i even sometimes have dreams where i read in the paper that a 'new' EA is starting up

i had many wonderful flights (save one emergency landing on an A300) and would love to see that blue hockey stick livery in the air again ...

how about you?

Regional: North Central Airlines aka blue goose; good service, comfortable and clean aircraft. loyal employees.

Large Carrier: Pan American, suppose that the fact my grandfather flew for them from 1929-1963 has nothing to do with it, but whenever one was in another country and seeing the blue meatball, it just meant something special.

While I miss PanAM (no, the 727 from bumfuck to podunk is NOT PanAM), because their 747s were just gorgeous, I'd have to say EASTERN. Silver birds with that double cheat-line (way back in the day), all the way up the tail. They were all over Logan for as long as I can remember.

Runner-up would either be Mohawk (loved their BAC1-11s; been there in row 1) or Northeast (dirtiest 727s around - even AF would be jealous).

There's a thread about an earlier "new" EA at http://www.airliners.net/discussions...general_aviation/read.main/2516740

I'll throw my vote in for EA as well. They made flying through ATL a pleasure.

Pan-Am . . . as Logan says the REAL Pan-Am . . .

The Real Alaska Airlines . . . before they worried more about the $$$ than the pax.

Braniff . . . the original Braniff . . . my former freedom bird from Texas when I was stationed at Hood in the 70s.

The message you were about to post is too short and probably not of any higher value to the topic at hand. You should think long and hard before posting a message in this forum and make it detailed and a valuable addition to the topic discussed.

Avoid posting "Me Too" messages. These are messages that are posted by people who agree to a point being discussed and post a one liner, "me too!", "Good post Jim!", "I disagree" or similar message. This takes up time as readers must sort through these messages which have no real value to the group at large. Any message containing nothing more than a line or two of text is probably not worth posting.

If you have an opinion on a topic, you should in detail express why you have the opinion and what made you come to that conclusion.

Your post should be relevant to the topic discussed.

I also really miss their terminal at JFK, that place was fanastic. Being at that terminal at night waiting for my flight back to MSP, and seeing all those 767s being loaded for flights overseas was really something...

TWA hands down.

I remember first coming to St. Louis in 2000 and looking up in the sky and seeing all the planes coming over head during the day and the stair stack parallel approaches at night. was totally neat.

Your sister needs to move . . .  duck

Sorry.

Your Mom seems to be doing ok though. I preferred Lampasas . . . (actually I didn't prefer Texas at all, but hey . . . )

Seriously, I went back to Killeen (Hood) in 1997, hadn't been there since I left in '79, and found Killeen to be the same nasty, dirty, shitty little leach of the Army town that it had been nearly 20 years earlier. Appeared as though nothing had changed - not even the airport. I drove up Rancier and back down 440 just to get a nostalgic look.

Seeing Hood again was interesting. Many changes and of course - there are Tanks there . . . . Gotta love that Abrams.  bigthumbsup

Used to flly out of Killeen on a Rio Scareways DHC-6 Twin Otter to Dallas. Then on to ORD on Braniff . . . my Mother was in Chicago at the time. I always love Braniff's innovative colors (see the Calder DC-8 Diamond posted in reply #11) and service . . .
