O'hare may have the most character of big airports, Denver is nice too, Atlanta is good, and so is LAX, I have a little hometown influence on my appreciation, but I think MSP is top 5 nicest airports in America, as is SFO, ORD, and DEN. Anyone else have any opinions?

SFO

Not really "nice" in my opinion..

Quoting FlyDreamliner (Thread starter):
LAX

Same thing there.

Quoting FlyDreamliner (Thread starter):
Atlanta

Is okay....

Quoting FlyDreamliner (Thread starter):
MSP

MSP is nice.

I would say that that PIT is nicer than LAX and SFO. IMHO the foodcourt in UA's terminal @ SFO sucks.

Denver is without question the best airport in the US... low delays, fast security, industry leading connect times, and its not bad to look at either.

I would have to disagree with you . Orlando (MCO) is easy to get around easy to get to hardly any delays on there end security is not bad and if you have a clear card you just walk through and an overall good looking airport.

MCI ...no concourses...75 feet from curb to plane and quit the cracks about no johns in the boarding area(past security). They are working on that as we type.
Are there any other major airports in North America that has 30 minutes free parking?
safe

Denver is nice too

I think Denver's a great airport, don't get me wrong, but I don't think it would deserve the title "Best Airport". Even though it's great for the reasons already listed above, it's kind of boring/dull - there's nothing extremely special about it.

Quoting FlyDreamliner (Thread starter):
Atlanta is good

Eh.. it's okay. Kind of the same thing as with DEN.

Quoting FlyDreamliner (Thread starter):
SFO

Flew into SFO for my first time today. Kind of disappointed, but maybe I expected too much. Overall it's pretty good, but I get an old-ish out-dated-ish feeling when I'm in it.

My vote: ORD!!!! - Yes, it does have it's weather problems, but I still love it! I'd rather have a long layover there than anywhere else.. TONS of stuff to do and planes to see!

DEN . . . . every convenience you could want, plenty of room to expand, weather delays almost a non-issue.

ANC . . . . what can I say. Great airport, easy in/out, great place to spot, inside and out, plus it's home.

CLT . . . . beautiful airport, light, open, airy, clean, convenient.

HNL . . . . weather delays don't exist, open to the outside air, can't beat the spotting of Pax planes there.

GPT: Because it is less than 20 minutes from my house!  bigthumbsup

I like IAH and DTW as well. Sacramento is nice too...

The worst airport: BDL, MSY, and EWR (with the exception of the Continental terminal)

By category:

1. JFK - for diversity of airlines esp. international (for spotters)
2. LGA - for the best view on landing especially if you are seated in seat A and coming in from northeast like BOS
3. MCO - tarmac views with all the mini-lakes and palm trees
4. YVR - most modern looks
5. LAS - slot machines
6. DEN - runway lay-outs kills taxi and take-off delays---the best runway lay-outs of all
7. BOS and DCA - Legal seafoods restaurants
8. PIT - it has a mall at the intersection of all the concourses

LAX

Pro: Great for spotting, great diversity of airlines
Con: Too many passengers, not enough staff, too hard to find Yolanda!

Quoting FlyDreamliner (Thread starter):
SFO

Pro: Amazing approach, customs was a breeze
Con: Lack of taxi's

Quoting FlyDreamliner (Thread starter):
DEN

Pro: Amazing approach, great concessions, great security
Con: Technically, the terminal is under a tent! Just like camping!

Quoting FlyDreamliner (Thread starter):
Atlanta

Pro: Quite a large airport, lots of DL!
Con: Too much DL!

To conclude, I personally believe YYZ is the GREATEST airport in North America! Obviously, that goes without saying!  laughing

Cheers,

CAUTION: Severe whining ahead-"YYZ is so expensive......highest landing fees......GTAA highway robbers.......Taj Mahal T1".......and so on and so forth. When exactly did any member on A.net actually drop a $10,000.00 (C peso) cheque to land thier A330 here.

Having said that, I am not informed enough to make a valid case against any of the mentioned airports. I have only ever been to YVR, YOW, YUL, YMX, YHZ, LAS, HRL, MCO, FLL, PIE, CUN, ACA, ZLO, PVR, HOG, VRA, MBJ, PMV, POP, PUJ, MID, AUA, SXM, LIS, TER, CDG, NCE, DUB, LGW, MAN, CIA, KWI, CAI, SDJ, FUK and never left airside.

AUS Bergstrom is a really nice, spacious airport, very clean and efficient looking. HRL also has a similar setup. I agree with the SEA vote mentioned earlier. I liked SEA's simple beauty and I think Seattle as a whole is a beautiful city and look forward to going back soon. I've only changed planes at DEN, but I thought that was a great looking airport.

LAS is only nice if you use the D gates.
