I am resurrecting a previous thread to see those who have logged previously if their rankings have changed after flying to cities for the first time. New members most welcome to log your rankings of top airports with amazing views on landing----full description, and flight info and year or decade of your flight.

Here is the previous thread:

www.airliners.net/discussions/aviation_polls/read.main/15340

Since the last thread, I have travelled to cities for the first time such as Seoul, Shanghai, Bangkok, Kalibo, Manchester (NH), Manchester (UK), Paris,
Vancouver, Ontario, Providence but my rankings remain the same:

1. best: La Guardia (LGA) --- I have seen 3 different amazing views on landing at LGA----all by US Airways shuttle from BOS:
a. seat A---initial approach shows LGA airport view, after crossing Bronx area, plane turns left to follow Hudson River showing all the details of Manhattan from Haarlem down to Wall Street, plane makes a U-turn above Staten Island and downtown Manhattan comes into full view at a lower level with all the bridges: Manhattan Bridge, Williamsburg Bridge, Brooklyn Bridge and later Queensboro Bridge with the UN Bldg and Midtown Manhattan, plane turns right showing the residential sections of Queens and a second view of LGA at a lower level. After Shea Stadium, plane semi-circles for a final approach! Whoa!
b. seat F (pre-9-11)---boring view of Newark, NJ but suddenly, plane made a U-turn above Chinatown/SOHO and the 2 Twin Towers were so close
c. seat F again from last year----approach was interesting: plane turned southward over Connecticut and the appetizer was view of Westchester Airport. Plane turned right above Long Island shores showing the Throggs Neck and Whitestone suspension bridges, then I saw bits and pieces of LGA runways underneath me, plane went on to cut through midtown Manhattan
I saw Empire State Building, and the Central Park (I can imagine the spectators on top of the tower were curious borderlining on fear as the A320 was approaching towards the tower!). Plane went for a quick U-turn after I saw Statue of Liberty for a final approach with the view of planes landing for JFK as the desert!!!

2. HongKong's Kaitak ---in 1983 JAL 747-200 NRT-HKG
Breathtaking view of HongKong's capital city of Victoria, then buildings of Kowloon appeared so close and seconds before touch down, plane makes a fighter plane 45 degree turn scaring all the first-time passengers!!!

will log more for next thread update!
