Hi everyone! I'm new!  wave

I will be travelling to Beijing for my school tour in April with AF.  hyper

I'm wondering if anyone here can give me their opinions on AF and Cityjet.

I would also appreciate it if anyone here working for AF could tell me if my school has booked the flights yet and which flight we are travelling on from CDG - PEK as there are two flights a day on that route.

Thanks a million,

Padraic

Cityjet is nothing to write home about. As you probably already know, they operate 146's on the route.

The cabin is runned-down and tired-looking with a seating arrangement of 3-2 in economy. A bonus though, is that you get free food on-board!

This month, Cityjet also revealed it's new uniforms -

Btw, can someone please tell me if you can get the AF in-flight magazine on-board cityjet still?

The seating arrangement is actually 3-3.

Yes, the AF mag is still onboard. Business and Finance magazine is also available on most aircraft.

CityJet may not be a lot to write home about but they're better than the other two options on the Dublin-Paris route.

Flew with them a few years ago CDG-DUB-CDG. Nothing special, both in a positive and negative way. After all, they are a franchise carrier for AF, so they have to harmonize with the overall product of the French carrier.

Padraic,

It must be very exciting for you to fly to China, especially considering your age. I would be excited even at mine because of the exotic nature of the place. Don't let folks like TriStar500 spoil your excitement...

AF is a great airline, and I am certain that you will have a grand time with them. I would imagine that you will be going by either B744 or B777 - either one is exceptionally comfortable on long flights. The food on AF is above average, and both of these aircraft have PVT for IFE.

Have a safe trip my friend, and please do post an account of your travels

Only 3 of the AF 744 have PTV at all seats.
Others have PTV in business class, and in the Eco Upper deck cabin (reconfigured NTC 744), but not in the main cabin.

Avoid AFKL 773 sardine cans with their 3-4-3 config in Y ! AF 772 are next

I didn't know that. I have flown on the AF744 only once in economy (I assume that is the way he is going because of his school trip) and it had PTVs at all seats. Thank you for the clarification.

I agree with most of the posts that Cityjet is OK - nothing particularly good or bad about it - though the 3-3 seating in Y is rather tight especially when the plane is full. Another interesting thing I've noticed is that the language issue sometimes gets to be an issue with the French passengers.....Many of the FAs speak basic French and all announcements are made in both French and English; however, French is clearly not the native language for most of the FAs and this shows during irregular ops, as they quickly revert to English, many of them even telling the French pax., to speak in English instead...have heard quite a few grumbles throughout the cabins as people feel they're supposed to be flying on Air FRANCE....
