We flew LAX to LHR and return on Virgin Atlantic 747-400 two years ago. Magnificent service, great cabin staff and aircraft! Overall wonderful experience, especially with kids. Will be booking same itinerary Feb 2007. There are now 2 dailys on the schedule, one 747-400 and an A340 (don't know if it is A340-313 or 640). Considering A340 one way just to try it. Can anyone compare for me the aircraft, experience, accommodations, service, etc on the A340 vs 747-400 on this run? Worth giving it a try? How does the aircraft ride? By the way, we travel in economy. Thanks.

If the 744 is avaliable, take that.
If you get an A340-600 then thats good, but the A340-300 are the oldest VS aircraft now, and have the oldest and most unreliable PTV system, and people say service isnt as good on these flights. Generally speaking the second LAX flight is normally an A340-300 flight.
