I have already checked seatguru.com (did so before choosing the seats). I was just wondering what to expect on the flights in terms of comfort, service, etc. I was also wondering about on the Delta flights (763ERs) how difficult would it be to try to reserve two seats in row 15 for me and my travel companion. Any input is deeply appreciated! Thank you!

ASA/COMAIR - Don't expect much other than cereal bars. They are not bad, but don't really offer anything memorable. F/As tend to be nice tho.

Delta - Flight is Ok. No PTVs and meals are average. It's not that bad though.

TAM -  checkmark  great airline, all around. If you get F-100s, however, they won't be as new/modern inside (leather seats tho), however a great airplane.

Varig - It will depend entirely on the aircraft you get (and of course, delays etc.). Some of their 737s are really old and worn, others are better. Their F/As tend to be very nice, however. But simply flying Varig is already something cool if you ask me hehe  Wink

GRU - Not the greatest airport, but not too bad. DL flight arrives early at GRU, which is good for immigration lines.

SSA - Good airport IMO. Haven't really been through the airport much, but it should be a breaze. (nice view on landing/take-off)

REC - New terminal opened just over a year ago. Very nice terminal. last time I've beent here I used the gates from the new, but the other facilities from the old terminal (terrible..). The gates look very nice and from pics I've seen, so does the rest of the terminal. (nice view on landing/take-off)

GIG - Nice airport as well. You should have great views on landing/take-off, so keep that camera on hand  Wink

Enjoy the beaches in Recife, and if you get a chance, try getting on a hour or so flight (usually ATR-42 or 737s) to the Archipelago of Fernando de Noronha*, amazing islands just off our coast. Small little airport, awesome approaches and take-off views.

*Varig offers a special round-the-island flight on your inbound flight.

Cheers and have a great trip!!!

Nothing to add to your story, PPVRA.

Good you mean even the horrible immigration lines for international traffic at GRU. Take your time for international arrival and departure...!

Yes, and on early morning the line for foreigners are very big (also horrible) and also americans need some additional procedures (photo and finger print Id). Lucky that you are boarding at GIG as on the last 6 weeks GRU face a terrible line before x-ray machines (on fridays more than 50 minutes) and also 15 to 20 minutes more to clear Federal Police.

Have a Nice trip to Brazil !

Thank you all for your insight. I do plan on going to Porto de Galinhas! I am staying there for two nights I think. I am very excited.

Does anyone know about Delta Airlines 763ERs and the row 15 thing? I am really hoping to snag two of those, but I don't know much about it. Anybody know?

PPVRA, do you have anymore information about those islands? It sounds intriguing!

Thanks again!

Check this website for more info on tourism in Brazil:

http://www.turismo.gov.br/site/gb/home/index.php

And here is a direct link with some more info on the Islands:

This one may be more useful though:

And this is the only good picture in the database of the place:

The islands are never crowded with tourists. It's a National Marine Park that is basically run by a research and protection organization (TAMAR - Sea Turtles project thing), so they have a limit on the number of tourists that can be in the island at any one time (that shouldn't be a problm I think).

Cheers!
