Hello There
My personal choice would be on the upper deck always in business class and you have this with the BA option. Their service is generally good, the club world bed very comfortable and all in all upstairs it is a very pleasant experience.
That said, you could also do a lot worse than the Cathay Pacific business class product or indeed the Virgin upperclass product too.
For me, you should be thinking about these 3 carriers in my opinion. Each has its own pluses and minuses but the three all have excellent reputations and I can more than vouch for the standard on BA!

no matter you fly BA or CX don't forget to stop by the world best lounge operated by CX located in HKG. And it is always an advantage to fly CX when you are headin' to HKG, since CX had reserved 5 closet gates to the immigration, save you some walking time(it also apply to departure flights).
btw, a BIG WARM welcome to Hong Kong, the Asia World City.

Hong Kong is not China. Not better or worse, just different.

I'd go w/ VS or CX
VS - Their upper class comparible to F class products in majority of other major international airlines.
CX - Airline of the year in 2005, food is also the best, plus their lounge in HKG.

Quoting Keego (Reply 6): Sorry my bad i meant the Upper Deck on BA First Class.
fair enough. Although, the VS upper class suite is wider than BA's First Class bed.
just something to bear in mind. As well as the inflight beauty therapist (nice massage anyone??) and the onboard bar. And of course the brand new LHR clubhouse. It is fantastic..

Really? Iv never flown VS, but iv only heard good things about them. and from what iv seen in pictures on the a.net database they look very comfortable.
I flew with LH in business class on a A340 from Frankfurt to Buenos Aires (Ezeiza) about a year and a half ago and I was very impressed with the service, food, airport amenities etc etc.
My critisism was the seat as I was in the new business class and I really didnt find the seat all that comfortable to be quite honest with you. I mean its not terrible by any lenght of the imagination BUT it certainly is nowhere near as good as BAs flat bed.
I go along with the general concensus of this thread in that I reckon you should go with either BA,VS or CX.

BA in business class, especially upper deck is excellent.
QF - very nice as well, although i preferrred the BA bed and service.
Swiss business class is also excellent on the 343 - seriously worth consdieration. ZRH is a very pleasant airport to connect in, the in flight product is very very good - wonderful service, comfortable seat - i always sleep well on this plane, great crew and AVOD very good.
LH - 744 and FRA - horrible airport, horrible product. 343 and MUC - nice seat, nice airport for connecting, service often 'glacial'. AVOD difficult to navigate and usually a very poor selection of films in my experience for an in flight AVOD. Also, they seem to wait ages beofre staring the AVOD, meaning if you want to watch a film, you'll be awake half the night.. Stick with LX if you want point on a LH miles and more card.
Air France - can be very hit and miss - on a good day, excellent, on a bad day, you'll need to be able to curse back to them in French. This is par for the course with french customer service, as anyone having lived in France will attest.

I also recommend KLM. They have a great product both Intercontinental and European service. The Biz Class is great, you can choose decks and the seats are cool and very confortable.
Enjoy your trip with any airline you choose.
