Most expensive oneway:
LHR-JFK on Concorde in September 2002. £5030/$8900
Most expensive return*:
LHR-LAX-LHR in BA F in 2000. Of the routes I've flown in paid F LAX is the most expensive and while I cannot remember the price of the ticket today it is around £5600/$9800.

Out of my own pocket: Just after I graduated I recall paying about GBP£1,000 for a RTW from LHR to HKG-SYD-ASP-ADL-MEL-SYD-CHC-WLG-ROT-AKL-NAN-HNL-DFW-MEX-MIA-LHR. It was probably the most I had ever spent on anything at the time and was quite good value even then. It seems quite cheap now really. I once blew GBP£1,400 on LHR-SYD return in BA World Traveller Plus, when I had more money than sense - but it was also at the bulkhead and I was very comfy indeed. (I am 6ft).
Out of work's pocket: I seem to recall purchasing an on-the-day Club Europe return LHR-BRU for about GBP£676 on day in June a couple of years ago. Seems hideous now for a 55 minute flight (especially if you convert it into USD) but at the time it was really important to have a fully-refundable ticket and one that could be transferred to another airline if necessary for whatever reason. Also worth a mention is a hideous LH Business Class return LHR-MUC which was basically a rugby scrum from start to finish - I think that cost about GBP£600.
Slightly off point, but my best value had to be a one-way Club World (Flat Bed Sleeper Service) JFK-LHR-MAN ticket for 50,000 miles plus tax (about £50 last year, I think.)

4 years ago I did this round trip... JNB-SID-ATL-CLT-PGV-CLT-EWR/JFK-JNB, business class, and the ticket was about ZAR23,000 which is $3,650 in today's currency.
After Monday and Tuesday even the calendar says WTF...

PIT-CLE-MCI CO
MCI-DEN-LAX F9

All out of pocket. The rest were non-rev, with a few exceptions, including a WN ticket my parents bought last summer.

British Airways Business Class AUD$5200 in April 2000; worth every cent. BNE-LHR Return.
BA stopped flying to Brisbane less than a year later.
The 42,000 points I gained from that trip was enough for to upgrade my mum LAX-AKL in Oct 2001; from economy to business. at that time QF only required 40,000 to upgrade any economy ticket to business one way for 40,000 points.
Recently; Brisbane to Perth Return on QF AUD $1086.00 bit of a rip off but I should have booked earlier, it was my most expensive ticket domestically but I had a great holiday.
