I'm going to be flying DCA-CVG-HNL-ATL-DCA at the end of April. I don't want to know if my flight will happen or if DL will go under before then...if they do I'm not the guy who has to do the rebooking.
My questions involve service on the flight to HNL. I've heard two stories on food. One that there is none and the other is that there is a meal service (in Y). Also, IFE? (I'm assuming tv's from the ceiling?) Thanks for the info.

Thanks, appreciate the info. I'm hoping that the flights go wel. i enjoy flying DL and I particularly enjoy the long haul flights...even if they aren't to Europe.

That also goes for all three airports DL serves in the Hawaiian Islands with connecting service through SLC. That includes HNL, OGG & KOA from SLC.

From the western cities of SLC (to KOA/OGG/HNL), SFO (to HNL) and LAX (to OGG), the general rule is that snacks are served in both classes going to the islands. On the way back to SLC and SFO, they are red eye flights and snacks are served in first class with just refreshments served in coach.
From LAX to HNL, the morning flight is breakfast in both classes and the evening flight is dinner in both classes. The return back to LAX on the afternoon flight is dinner in both classes. The evening HNL to LAX is a snack in first class and refreshments in coach.

Think "SkyDeli" snack service (sandwich, chips, maybe fruit and candy), although these may be served to you directly rather than picking them up at the boarding door when they used to serve them. The "refreshments" that Sspontak is talking about are the "snack packs" with the standard fare of crackers, cheese spread, etc.

Oh God...SkyDeli I don't get it though...a SkyDeli type snack in F in a 6+ hour flight (SFO-HNL) Yet a full meal in both classes on LAX-HNL?

Actually, the snack in first is a tray service with a sandwich or a wrap, with a cucumber/tomato salad or pasta salad, and a brownie, not the Sky Deli. I posted a few of those meals posted on airlinemeals.net. Not bad for a red eye, but not so great for a day trip.

Yeah...especially considering DL claims that they still offer complimentary meal service in all classes to Hawaii...

SFO-HNL is rarely over 5:30, and if the winds are favorable it doesn't even break 5 hours! LAX is actually farther away from HNL and as such is a longer flight by 20-30 minutes
