Whether your were a passenger or crew what place on this huge Planet was your first International destination and how much did you enjoy it? I'm deciding my first International. Its either going to be London or Madrid/Barcelona(I'm studying Spanish). It's a hard decision.

Also, were there any determining factors for deciding which place outside your country you wanted to visit first?

My first official "international" trip was a few years ago on a company trip with my mother to Banff, Canada.

I also had a trip I did to Nicaragua, but I didn't really count either of those as "vacations", so I usually say London, as I did last year.

My first international trip was in 1996 - PDX-DTW-AMS-ARN. NW flew the 747 on DTW-AMS, and it was amazing.

Stockholm was, and remains today, one of my favorite cities in Europe. And thank god DTW has added a new terminal since then (the old one was horrible).

I went to RTM on the day before my 18th birthday - and that was back in 1971! Had a great time, going to the Hague and Scheveningen to look at Radion Caroline of the Dutch coast. I also got exceedingly drunk in the Double Diamond pub! Big grin

This may or may not have been my actual aircraft, but it was taken from the same location on the same day!

My parents planned the entire trip so I had nothing to do with the destination.

Since you need to pass throu customs and show your passport, then yes it counts.

My first was AKL-NAN in 1991 when I was 5. First solo was last year in October to SYD. First long haul is in June, WLG-AKL-LAX-ORD-DTW-ORD-LAX-HNL-AKL-WLG
