Ok,so were not all airline route people but sometimes we as close watchers of the industry can honestly say we see a route that makes sense and could be profitable.About 4 years ago I thought CYEG could use a link to Las vegas and Phoenix on a daily basis,so I hit the America west website and contacted customer service and informed them of the large demand from YEG to those cities.I was surprised to get e-mail back saying the message had been handed off to the proper person and 6 months later HP launched service to YEG to both cities nonstop and the routes have been a huge success for the carrier who used CRJ-900s initially and now uses 733s and A319s on the flights.I would like to think me contacting the carrier in this way played a part in the airlines decision to fly here or was it just a stroke of luck?Not sure myself but my question goes out to all what cities do you think could be linked to your airport or airports,your ideas could go a long way...

LH FRA-SJO (747 if you please; this would replace the current DE flight)
BA LON-SJO (or VS) LON-SJO (I put only the London metro code since I'd prefer if the route was flown out of LHR, not LGW, however I do not mind any flights from MAN by ZB or DP).
Then again, this is all just wishful thinking, since those routes would provide excellent connections to HAM). Though it seems KL and/or AF are a very likely option to actually start up at SJO, along with BA (in the case of BA and KL, they would rather be returning, if they ever did that).

SAN-LHR I'd even take LGW for that matter (why did they stop this service anyways...much smaller US Cities have direct service)

Exeter has now been craving AMS for over three years now, just the slots that BE want are still not avliable.
Also that it has now become more important now, considering the sucess of the 2x daily (weekdays) service to CDG, which is seeing regular loads of 80%, proof that passengers want a commuter, business day trip friendly service from their local airport.

I seriously see some potential for a flight to GVA from my homebase HAJ.
Another destination that was dropped not too long ago would be WAW.
IMO bad marketing (on the german side) and unfavourable timings by C0 (Centralwings) were among the factors that led to cancellation of this service (together with HAJ - KTW) ...
Another spot not served from HAJ would be Ireland. Maybe AB can add a flight to DUB from its STN-hub ?
And BTW, I do not need BA re-establishing flights to LGW ...

My city will be Bergen, Norway (BGO) in about a months time, so I will count this as my home city.
I really wish LH or SK would open up a direct route to either FRA or MUC. Being a Star Alliance member means that the only hub with world-wide connections availbale is CPH. A direct route to FRA or MUC would make things a lot easier for Star Alliance members like me.

Another route YEG needs is a year round link to Halifax and St.johns with all the Easterners outhere they always complain about flying to YYC.WS just launched a nonstop to YHZ but St.johns is still missing.YEG-FRA has been rumored now for over a year and Edmonton airports authority has admitted they are working with LH for the route and are now in the final stages for it,LH will likely use a A330-200 for the flight.But it has yet to be announced.So for now we still get the TS A330 to FRA.Once YEG was linked to FRA,LGW,LHR,MAN,AMS,CPH, and WAW.
I'm really glad to hear that you enjoyed Bergen . I've been living in Trondheim for one year now pursuing my master studies, but will return to Bergen, my hometown, in order to write my main thesis next year. Although Trondheim is OK it can't even compare to Bergen! There's just something special about it. . .especially now when summer is approaching.
Hm. . .seems to be getting a bit off-topic here. Come to think of it, I'd also love for Bergen to get a direct flight to LHR. As it is now, SAS/Braathens flies to Gatwick, but this is a late afternoon flight, so it really is not a convenient flight for connecting to the rest of the world. Norwegian has a morning flight to Stanstead, but given the location of the airport, connection is difficult here as well. I know Stavanger has a direct morning flight to LHR, so I am a bit puzzled why there is no flight to BGO. Is it because the oil industry has so many offices in Stavanger perhaps?
