I was randomly searching for airfares – all of which include taxes, etc – from LHR to KUL, BKK and SIN departing tomorrow (2nd May) and returning on the 4th May – so about a day there. I was expecting hugely expensive tickets, but in fact they’re surprisingly cheap – even with the national airlines. For example, to KUL with MH is £396; to BKK with TG is £412 (with BR it’s £401); SIN with SQ is £474. Even CGK was just £421 returning on the 3rd with MH, although that fare has now gone. HKG and NRT, meanwhile, are well over £700 with CX and JL/NH respectively – as you’d probably expect. Elsewhere, DEL and BOM are about £400 with 9W out on the 2nd and back on the 3rd, but over £1,000 with the rest. Interesting. Especially when BA’s flights for LHR-JFK-LHR, for example, for 2nd out and 3rd back are about £860. Ah, it must be that minimum stay or Saturday night rule. Anyway, what ‘interesting’ – either because it was cheap or expensive or whatever – fares have you found?
