Is it my imagination or are Asian FAs more customer focused than their non Asian counterparts. I seem to recall there being a noticeble difference of service levels from a trip I took last year. It was NYC/LON/HKG return
While the service NYC/LON was good the LON/HKG was even better. The flights were by the same airlline just difference in crews.

Has anyone noticed this as well or am i imagining things?

Asian FAs are given some straightforward rules: be young, look fab, always smile and give 150% when at work or get yourself another job!

Same rules apply for "Western" FAs but it is harder to just kick them out because of legislation that prevents firing of staff without having a damn good reason for firing them...

Hence, Asian FAs have little choice... work your ass off or be unemployed.

Edited for spelling error.

I think it's more about if the company or the flight has generally good service or not and of course there are cultural differences.

Finnair has Asian (Thai/Japanese/Chinese) FAs on every Asian flight basically and haven't noticed any big differences with native Finnish and Asian crew. Maybe Asian crew members are more polite in a formal way, like towards older passengers.

Last Now I flew Cathay BKK-SIN-BKK, that service was just very ordinary, nothing special.

Its hit or miss with any other. The one thing I find with some Asian airlines crews is that they are not personal.

As a Western FA, i am far too shocked to answer this stupid question and i take great offence that this would even be posted. Therefore, i suggest deletion (hell it wont happen but what the heck).

Never give up..

In my experience I've had better service levels on EY and EK than on VS and BA. It feels more personal but saying that, some of the EK crews I've had have been western so there goes that theory.

Different? Yes.
Better? That can't really be answered as it is more influenced by the passenger's expectations than anything else.

Yes...that's why CX and SQ are industry leaders in terms of inflight services.

There are many reasons for this...and you can look that up.

I don't buy the argument, however, that Asian FAs act like robots. Yes, they are more submissive, but so are Asian travellers.
