I was think about which engines I like best on Boeing 747 classic. I like the sound that P&W JT-9 make at take off and landing. On the other hand you can not beat the sound that Rolls Royce RB 2:11 524 make when starting up or taxi or at full power take off. I not a fan of the CF-6 50 even though they sound good at taxi, plain they just ugly. So what is your favorite?

Only been on the PW and RR classic 747...but my answer is the RR. I love the whine of the engines on takeoff. I've read an article written a by an aviation journalist documenting a trip on a BA 747-200 from the cockpit, and I remember that there was one line stating how the pilot said that the rumble of the engines on startup really gets the blood moving through his veins (or something to that effect).
