Delta...they've been somewhat of a hometown airline for me, even though I grew up in BHM. ATL wasn't that far away, and it was nice to go there and see some major traffic. Plus, DL has always operated a/c that I love....the 727, L-10, DC-9/MD-80...and I've gotta thank them for giving me my fill of the MD-11 before they dismantled the fleet. They're also hubbed at one of the greatest airports in the country.

I choose American. I had a choice of Delta for my trip this summer for £20 less, but as I have an AAdvantage account and will make gold on this trip I picked AA, I also used my miles to upgrade to Business class, so yet another reason

If I can't fly WN, for whatever reason, then it has to be AA.
Thoughts on AA - uniformly vague cabin crews, MRTC, reasonably decent schedule, change planes at DFW which is horrible but a whole lot better than Hartsfield.
Why not DL - Cabin crews? Vague would be an improvement. The ones I've seen hate to fly and it shows. Surprise - it's not really DL...it's an uncomfortable RJ operated by Skywest/Chataqua/ASA (take your pick). NMRTC (Not much room throughout coach). Atlanta. I hate to say it but the Yankees burned the wrong part. They should have laid waste to Hartsfield rather than try to give Miz Scarlett a bad hair day.
Bottom line is it is all about attitude. American's folks just exude a whole lot better attitude towards customers than Delta's. It wasn't always that way, but it is now.

If for some reason I can't fly WN, HP, or AS, I would go with American. I would prefer the other 3 because I can go nonstop to the places I want to go (SEA, MCI, RDU). American has more room throughout coach, and if I get on an Eagle flight, odds are that I'll have an ERJ, which I prefer to the CRJ.....
