Does anyone know how the crew rotation is there?
I guess LHR-GRU-GIG/EZE is to long for one crew.
What happens to the trasit passengers in GRU? Could they stay on bord?
How is the passenger proportion between GRU and GIG/EZE?
I was wondering because when I booked my flight I was told that GIG is sold out and just GRU is available. Maybe because I was paying with BA-miles.

What I actually mean is: How many people do LHR-GRU and how many do LHR-GIG/EZE? Is BA seperating this flight into two imaginary parts e.g. 50% tickets to GRU and 50% tickets to GIG/EZE or is this just depending on demand?

I wouldn't think they will limit the number of tickets, BA will want the most possible passengers, so I doubt they would split the flight up, I could be wrong.

Yes, if your final destination is EZE, you can stay on board. But if you're flying to GIG, you have to leave the plane and clear customs in GRU, as your final destination will be inside of the Brazilian territory.
An aunt of mine did this flight a lot and she said that most of the people board/stay in GRU.

Sorry but that is incorrect I fly this route regularly and you HAVE to stay onboard enen to GIG

Can only speak for GRU-EZE, but the aircraft empties considerably (same happened when I flew the route with LH).

For the latter, yes they do, and BA are often the cheapest option between the two cities (US$200-250 return is quite common).
I think BA's loads are also the lowest on the route, mainly because a lot of loyal passengers to EZE deserted upon the introduction of the GRU-stop. Previously, BA were the only airline offering non-stop service, but as now they are effectively in the same category as AF, AR, IB, LH etc., many have now switched (myself included). Better to make a stop where you can stretch your legs than spend around 15 hours stuck on the same plane.
I am still a proponent of the reintroduction of say a thrice-weekly non-stop LHR-EZE service with 772s. I am sure it would work, and think the yields would be about as good as the loads. My last girlfriend, who flew 11 years for BA ex-EZE, was of a similar opinion too.

When I flew to EZE on BA two years ago, you could stay on or get off and go for a stroll aorund the deserted departure hall (it was early morning) at GRU on the way, as most pax got off at GRU. Crew changes at GRU - think crew from GRU to EZE are BA South American crew. On way back up from EZE, they will have a large amount of people to board at GRU (200+), so will not want the EZE passengers to leave the plane and add to the mayhem. But a stroll around the plane is allowed and is pretty much a must as 15 hours sitting in a seat is quite a long time.

just an anecdote from today
I spoke to the BA desk here in FRA because of some payment things and the guy told me that I really shouldn't miss my flight next Thuesday to GRU because the flights are completely sold out for the next few months.
Wow ... no wonder that BA is starting to operate more GRU flights soon.
GRU seems to be a fantastic destination for airlines at the moment. LH is also doing very well. Would be nice to see more flights to brazil.
