I just came back from a 2+ weeks travel to Australia, New Zealand and South Korea. The travel included Malaysia Airlines B777, Korean Air B777/B744 and Air France B777 in the long haul segments. Here are my quick snipets:
EWR-ARN-KUL-SYD MH B777 (all three legs)
I must say the service is TOP notch on MH Golden Class. The seats wer comfortable even through they are lie flat, but the pitch and seat comfort is the best I have experienced. The AVOD was great, nice comforter/duvet/pillow and the lighting system (mood lighting that changes color). The crew were the most attentive, friendly, and the service was impecable as well as the food. The amenity kit is very complete (L'Occitane) and we had the nest flight on MH amoung the legs we did (total of 13).
AUK-ICN-CDG KE B777 and B744
Korean Air service is markedly lower compared to MH. The B777 was pathtic since it had the old Business class seats, so the 11+ hours of flight was not as good. The service, quality of food and other elements are just so so. There was even no amenity kits handed!!
The ICN-CDG was on the "new" interior B744 with nice business class, not too bad AVOD (but the programming was ok), and the seats were good. Seats did not feel as good as the MH Business but the lie flat was good. Had good seat pitch (again not as much as on MH), but since we were on the upper deck row 16, the leg room was great.. The service was ok, and the food was ok too (try the Korean Bibimbap). The one great thing that KE had was Connexion by Boeing internet service!!!!!!!! I would take KE if it had the new interior, and internet service on a long haul.
CDG-YUL AF B777
As the KE above, this was the old business class, so the comfort level is bad. Again, we are comparing to the new lie-flat, so anything that is seal like is bad now. The service was ok, but the food was great (if you like french cuisine). The amenity kit is ok, but not as great as MH.
KLIA Golden Club Lounge is GREAT. Nice shower, food and beautiful views.
KE Businell Lounge at ICN is nice as well, with a great food selection and views.
AF Salon at Terminal 2E, is very pathetic!!!! One of the worst I have been to.
Overall, I give MH a solid 10, KE and AF 7.
I would appreciate your comments and your experiences on these carriers.

MH has a superior service and product overall on Busines class. They address you by name from the moment you step in the aircraft, and there were almost 8 FAs serving the Business cabin. Also, the food service was more persoanlized with a lower table where the food is dished in front of you from serving platter. Also they are very attentive and frequent with refils and this goes on throughout the flight including replacing water bottle in the middle of the night. At the end of the flight, the purser comes and thanks you and also there to dispense destination help.
AF on the other hand, needs to learn a lot from MH in the service department. The FAs were a bit snobby!!

You make some interesting comments:
- I agree with you on the quality of the MH service, in my experience it is also better than KE (which I also like). In any case, the major Asian carriers are (and always will be in my view) light years ahead of European carriers in servive
- on your AF 772 flight, were you in the front (rows 4 - 6) or the back part of the J cabin, and in the middle seat or else window/corridor ? The reason I ask is that the back part is more crowded with more rows of seats and may have added to your feeling of the comfort being less. I agree that the old J seats are less extensive than the new ones, but maybe "bad" is a slight exaggeration.....
- terminal 2E at Roissy is a real problem, since it is only partly reopened after the accident, so all boarding is by bus. The advantage is that there are much less passengers, so everything is quicker and calmer. (The partial closure of 2E has a huge effect on the other terminals, which are really struggling to deal with the capacity, so I think you were lucky !)There is now only a business class lounge (before there was also a first class salon), but it is easily the largest and quietest at Roissy, since there are relatively few flights out of 2E. As with all AF lounges in France, there is not enough choice of food in the lounges, and also no personalised service once you are seated. (To see what I mean about the difference, go the AF lounges at Hong Kong or Beijing !). That said, I am not sure I would go as far as your description as pathetic and one of the worst. (If you were talking about terminal 2A or 2C thenI would agree !
- the comment about "snobby" F/A: I understand you, this seems to be a frequent comment, and I could fill a book with my observations about why this happens. Just for my interest, do you find AF worse in this respect than other European and US carriers ?
