Every now and then I see people saying, or posting trip reports that they are cashing in miles to go on an around the world trip in first class. How many miles does this take? Most airlines require at least 100,000 miles to fly from the US to Australia, or Europe in First, so I can only imagine how many miles it would take to make it an around the world trip, with multiple stops.

I you wanted to go with Star alliance you could either have the miles on UA which is 400,000 for first class. Or you could buy the miles, which would be 8,000 dollars. That would allow you to fly first class on any star alliance airline around the world in First class!!
It not to bad of a Price really when you think about it as SQ, CX and other airlines normally charge sometimes 10,000 dollars for JUST a round trip ticket.

On the star alliance website you can download a "star alliance mileage calculator." I use it alot to plane out dream trips!!
to some people the sky is the limit, to aviation enthusiasts, its home!
