Corpsnerd said in another post "I'm more fascinated with planes than i am with airlines" Which got me thinking, I love planes but i do love the entire airline industry. I really can't decide which I am more into. i think it may be the airlines because i dont really get as excited about being at aiports like TEB or OPA as I do at airports with a huge diversity or airlines like JFK or LAX. Which are you more in to?

I like planes more, since my biggest dream is to become an airline pilot. The entire industry and the fact that it works as well as it does is also extremely fascinating.

I think its the combination of both put together that makes it interesting to me. To see all the different kinds of planes and each airline with those planes painted in a unique way.

I am into the airline and the way they work these things, planes excite me but i am more interested in hear airline news directed to the airline instead of southwest ordering 100 737 or Delta stopping orders of 777 i wanan hear AA adds flights to dfw/stl etc etc so i am more interets in Airlines

Good things come to those who wait, better things come to those who go AFTER it!

Planes for me. The aircraft is the science while the airline is the business.

Good question...made me have to think for a minute!  Big thumbs up

First, probably airlines...I grew up in a UA family, so I learned the United fleet and system throughly, and follow them closely. While I have some knowledge of other airlines and the overall industry, most of my knowledge is UA-specific.

Secondly, probably planes...commercial jetliners mostly, I'm not into helicopters or military or spacecraft at all. Within airliners, I prefer Boeing over Airbus but also like MD aircraft like the DC-8 and DC-10 equally as much. Jetliners look the best in the UA livery!  Big thumbs up Specifically, the red/orange/blue livery, as that's what I grew up seeing all the time. Besides airliners, I also like small private aircraft. Cessna Skyhawk and Skylane (N9944E), and the Piper Cherokee Turbo Arrow III (N2296M) are also favorites, as I flew on them often when my Dad belonged to a flying club in San Carlos, CA.

Lastly...airports. I like seeing new airports, and my favorites are: IAD, ORD, DEN, PDX, SEA, HNL, LHR. I try to avoid SFO and LAX whenever possible. I would love to see HKG, KIX, and NRT one day. I also know the runway layout of many airports as well.

Exactly why I am more interested in airlines with the aircraft coming in at a close second. It does amaze me how they manage to get these beauties up in the air, but the dynamics of the airline business amaze me even more. My dream is to work for a major airline doing fleet planning.

Definitely more into airplanes. As mentioned above, I love the 'science' about them... how they work and such. If we really wanted to narrow it down, I'm even moreso fascinated with jet engines and their reliable, simple, yet complex operation.

I'm new to all this, I've always liked to travel and that has been my passion. Before I didn't pay much attention to the Airline or the aircraft as such, but now that I have been working for the last 4 yrs in IB I'm starting to get into both the planes and the Airlines but to be honest I prefer the day to day management of the airlines.

These are my principles but if you don't like them I have others

My interest in airliner type planes, while strong, is far surpassed by my interest in airlines. In particular, my interest in this regard centers around the pre-deregulation flag carriers of Europe and their fleets and route structures from the post-World War II rebuilding years through the present.

Good question ,

I have been in the maintains operations side of the biz , I just love the whole thing. I am still amazed at all the work and coordination that goes into operating an airline. But is still comes down the big bird.

It is all equal for me.

Aircraft, Airlines, Airports.

They are all bonded together in my book, and cannot be taken apart and put into different categories. It's the combination of these 3 things.

Just my opinion.  Smile

Tough question.
For me i'm interested in the whole industry in general, I'm facinated with many individual aspects.

When I'm flying however and I have a choice I spend a lot of time figuring out a workable itinerary, with a preferance for any airline I have not yet flown with and the choice is easier if I can fly on a particular aircraft that I have never had the pleasure.

I remember when the DC-3 was new!

I find myself "rooting" for airlines to succeed. I love all planes. I guess I like the differnt liveries on different types of aircraft.

It's a tie!!
